My votes would be........

AL - Johan Santana
NL - Jason Schmidt

I like Schmidt for the NL

But in the AL i like Mulder- he has the most wins with 18 i do belive, he has many CG and Shutouts and has been solid all year long

Mulder would be a good selection as well

Santana - 15-6, 213 k's, 188 IP, 3.06 ERA

Mulder - 17-4, 121 k's, 191 IP, 3.72 ERA, 5 CG's

Both deserving, the last month should determine who gets it but I have to think these are the top two candidates right now.

how do you even decide who gets it when two players are so close. But are different in certain statistical columms.

My vote would go to Schmidt in the NL. I don't really pay much attention to the AL, but Mulder and Santana look like they did a great job this year. Is Schilling in the running at all?

Schilling has good numbers as usual..... 16-6, 158 k's, 181 IP's, 3.38 ERA.

Schmidt got rocked last night vs the Braves giving up 6 runs on 10 hits and 2 walks in just 3 2/3 innings although he struck out 8. He's still the favorite in the NL IMO.

Santana for AL, his ERA and strikeouts are impressive.

And Shmidt for NL.

For me it would be a great ERA with lots of innings pitched and quality starts, which shows consistency.
