ATLANTA -- J.D. Drew couldn't possibly go through an entire season without suffering some type of unfortunate injury. Fortunately for the Braves, his
latest one doesn't appear to be serious.
As he was exiting the field after batting practice on Tuesday afternoon, Drew jumped and hit his head on the top of the dugout. Unable to stop the
bleeding, the Braves medical staff took him to an area hospital to have the laceration stitched.
Drew didn't realize that he was bleeding until he took his hat off and saw the blood. Thus, he was surprised when he was told that he would have to
miss the start of Tuesday's game.
Coming into this season, Drew was always labeled as an injury-prone player. He had never appeared in more than 135 games, and had appeared in more
than 109 games just twice during his first five full seasons.
Eli Marrero took Drew's starting spot in right field and Andruw Jones moved into the third spot in the batting order. This marked just the third time
this year that Jones has hit above the fourth spot in the order
