Kelvim Escobar has spent more time during his Toronto career as a wannabe than a contender, but he's growing accustomed to flourishing in a new role.
Vernon Wells hopes his teammates, particularly the younger guys in the clubhouse, take a few moments to relish the special situation the Blue Jays find themselves in.
More important, Toronto is 10 games over .500 for the first time this year and is in third place in the AL East, half a game behind second-place Boston and 1 1/2 games behind division-leading New York.

Not bad for a team that was generally picked to finish third in the East by the prognosticators who figured the Yankees or Red Sox would run away with the division.....

Carlos Delgado is so locked in right now that he sees every pitch coming -- even the ones from reporters. Delgado, who currently leads the American League in home runs and RBIs, is understandably uncomfortable speaking about his hot start. He doesn't want to jinx himself and he doesn't want to compare this season to his greatest accomplishments...

Pick a hitter, any hitter, and chances are that there's one year that stands out in the career bio. With Ted Williams, it was 1941, when the Splendid Splinter hit .406. For Mark McGwire, it was 1998, when he outdueled Sammy Sosa and set a short-lived record with 70 home runs. Along those lines, 2000 was Carlos Delgado's crowning glory, at least until this year. He finished fourth in the AL's MVP balloting and was in the top five across the board statistically....

Roy Halladay or Carlos Delgado???

DETROIT (AP) -- With his team in a batting slump, Toronto Blue Jays hitting coach Mike Barnett decided to hold a meeting for his batters.

Whatever he said, it worked -- and helped Roy Halladay earn his 12th straight victory.

After scoring just six runs in a four-game losing streak, the Blue Jays got two homers from Carlos Delgado and four RBI from Vernon Wells in an 8-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night.

Delgado now has 28 homers and 91 RBI.

Halladay (12-2) has not lost in 15 starts since April 15. His winning streak is the second-longest in team history to Roger Clemens' 15-game string in 1998.

well the blue jays seem to have some players doing so well at the moment,wells and delgado making a great combination and pilling on the runs...

Halladay is pitching superbly at the moment i think someone picked him up in our fantasy league...

Superb is an understatement.

Halladay won his 15th straight decision, pitching seven scoreless innings to lead the Toronto Blue Jays over the Baltimore Orioles 10-1 on Sunday.

Halladay (15-2) matched the club record for consecutive wins set by Clemens in 1998 and is the first major league pitcher to win 15 straight decisions since Clemens won 16 in a row for the New York Yankees in 2001.

The right-hander hasn't lost in 20 starts since April 15 at Yankee Stadium.

Rube Marquard and Tim Keefe share the major league record of winning 19 consecutive decisions. Marquard did it for the New York Giants in 1912 and Keefe did it for New York in 1888.

Delgado hit his AL-leading 30th home run, becoming the first Toronto player to hit 30 or more home runs in seven consecutive seasons.

Halladay is keeping that run going and is looking pure class at the mo...
