About Blaines History
Nov. 30 Blaine first received national attention in 1997 when he performed a series of self-levitations on the street, in an ABC special, David Blaine: Street Magic. Since then the 27-year-old magicians reputation as a performance artist has grown tremendously. People magazine listed Blaine as one of the 25 most intriguing people in the world in 2000.
Last year, almost 100,000 people turned up to see Blaine unearthed in New York after seven days of being buried alive six feet under New Yorks Riverside Drive. Being buried alive was famed magician Harry Houdinis biggest fear, and his life ended before he overcame it. And Robert De Niro has bought the rights to make a film about Blaines life.
Born in Brooklyn, Blaine moved back to New York City right after finishing high school in New Jersey. Both his mother and grandmother were raised as Gypsies. Blaine decided he was destined for magic when he was only 4, and began using one-on-one illusions to connect with people.
I agree, I'm pretty sure Gazrok thinks this whole thread is about whether or not David Blaine is real.
