My father served with the 4th ID in Vietnam, 2 tours, Division Artillery HQ.
Major General Glenn Walker was the commander on both tours.
He returned with the 4th ID, in the 70's, back to Fort Carson, Colorado.
The 4th ID has a very long and proud tradition and is one of the US Army's premier fighting mechanized infantry divisions currently in service.
My father still speaks highly and fondly of his time with the 4th ID........

Who here thinks the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) based at Fort Hood is the single best ground military force in the world today?

Best in the world, yes. But kick the reds asses? I don't think so.
Speaking of the reds, how many divisions were parked in Europe at the height of the Cold War? Wasn't it like six?
