Good that form of music, while the beat and melody is ok, has horrible lyrics...and therefore sucks and is harmful to our poor children...THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!

...doesn't surprise me at all...the majority of these Pop Polls are aimed at middle-of-the-road WHITE suburbanites...which explains why there are so few black/brown faces in that list...

Personally, I'm glad to see Queen is up there...Although I more prefer the music they wrote for the Highlander movies...

Or may be it's comming from the fact that more than 75% of the population is white.

Do the same poll in the black/brown community, you'll have probably the same results. No whites faces, or just a few.

It's not a racial thing but it IS a fact that almost all like 99.9% of the rap is blacks. Rap sucks, hence no rap. I don't see eminem on their either, YEA!!!!

Besides, blacks in this nation really have tribalized too much....inner city blacks anyways....all they do is listen to rap like it is the gospel. Thinking all their problems is by the White people. Maybe if they got off their drugs and picked their arses off the street corners they'd not be so impoverished??? Just a thought...

...sheesh...peeps say pretty much the same thing about us Maoris here in NZ - despite the fact EVERY member of my immediate family has obtained a University Degree...both my older brother and my sister are Lawyers, my other brother is an Accountant, my parents are both retired Teachers (Father being an Education Co-Ordinator for the NZ Justice Dept) and I'm a qualified Psychiatric Worker...

...I see a whole bunch of whiteys on drugs and/or earning a lot less than me and my family, but rarely does anyone tell them to get off their butts...

Anyone else surprised not to see Stairway up there? I know its not really pop, but its as poppy as plenty of other tracks on that list. Plus in my opinion it beats a good percentage of those tracks hands down.

...not one mention of pioneering musical artists like Aussies Rolf Harris, or NZs Fred Dagg...not ONE! Rigged I tell ya...rigged!

I believe the poll was done by BBC Radio2 which is the biggest station in the UK with around 8 million regular listeners now,The target age group is between late 20's to mid 40's but more and more younger listeners are tuning in because they regularly play classic music including Marley,Led Zep and Deep Purple.The other main station is BBC Radio1 which play the new stuff but you might hear 1 song 5 or 6 times in a day and I don't think anyone would say that all of todays music is great and it gets repetative.There is also a BBC black radio station.So yeah,the vast majority of voters would have been white and depending on you're definition,middle aged.

The mere word "singles" fills Estragon with euphoric waves of nostalgia; but given that almost all fo these are the songs Estragon misspent his youth to, it does seem a rather outdated list.
Of course, the problem with these polls is that they're often based on written replies and there's almost no one left in Britain under the age of 20 who can read -or evn count up to "2" so as to get past Radio 1 -that will necessarily invalidate the sample.
