maybe i should wait till i am more grounded and sane, but im just gonna dump it all on ya, Hope u can make sense of my ramblings:

Alright, this is wild lol. But a while ago, i used to meditate for a little bit, like a little 20 minute meditation, or what have you. nothing special. But I recently decided......Im gonna meditate, as deep and as long as i can. There is nothing around to interrupt me...So i finally did it. And after a while nothing happened, I just concentrated on the distant sounds of the traffic as my body slowly went numb as it usually did when i meditated for long periods of time. Then suddenly (actually it was kinda like it slowly zoned in) the right side of my..... i guess brain was slowly but rapidly moving. Like moving rapidly, but it was a quiet distant feeling. Then after i concentrated on this feeling, My entire.....something lol (mind, body, i don't know what to fully describe it) started to move up and down, like it was slowly being unhinged from my body. My mind felt light and.......i dunno incredible lol.

Then all of the sudden!!

My girlfriend calls, breaking my meditation and basically draining my energy lol. I couldnt repeat this feeling even though i tried. It was like the rug was sweeped out from under me and i couldn't stand back up....hypothetically speaking ofcourse.

I was curious, In your wise opinion, Do you think i was close to zen?

Hi Forsaken Druid,

It sounds like you were in the pre-stages of having an OBE experience. Are you at all familiar with OBE's (Out of Body Experience) and what they are? One way to invoke the experience is to meditate very deeply. If you are interested I can give you some good links on the subject, and there is a very good topic on it here on ATS.

I am not that familiar with Zen, so I cannot tell you if what you experienced was indeed Zen. It may be worth googling around on your part though to find out.
I am happy to read that you have had such an experience though, as such experiences keep us forging ahead into the unknown. Well, if we arent scared by it it will!

yes i know what oobe is, Ive always heard about it, even very few of my friends have done it at some point in their lives. i have researched on it for a very long period of time. but I was always told that the ONLY way to get OOBE is to be in a "Twilight" stage, where you are half awake and half asleep and do some stuff within that stage. But i never would have thought within meditation.

Also with OOBE i know it is very common to hear/feel a sound like wind is flying against you. as if you stuck you head out of a moving car. and i didn't feel that, so i didn't think it was OOBE, but I guess i don't quite have a professional opinion in the subject matter lol.

Yes i would love a few of your links, and it is greatly appreciated that you replied to me. thank you enormously.

I had a similar experience once but my setup was slightly different. I was randomly listening to music on my headphones in my room at night, completely dark except for my monitor. I started fishing through my desk drawer and happened upon a key. A few days earlier I had done some reading on key bending so the thought was fresh. Anyways, I just looked at it and decided that the key had no choice as to it's state and that I would change it. I sat in my chair and concentrated on the key and my energy. I sort of imagined that I was in a lucid dream and could impart my will upon anything. After what seemed like 10 minutes I began to feel disconnected like you mentioned. You know how when you close your eyes you still have the sense that you're staring at the back of your eyelids. Well that went away and I was just, there or maybe nowhere. I could feel energy or something running up and down my body, probably 20 seconds for a 'wave' to make it from head to feet. Embarassingly enough, at least to admit now, I became sexually aroused. I wasn't thinking about sex or anything related, I'm just assuming that the bloodflow in my body was increasing along with my energy. It wasn't until I lost the feeling of being 'nowhere' that I realized it. All said and done, I ended up twisting the end of a seriously thick key, it put deep imprints into my fingers and is painful to grip or hold when I tried later, but it didn't happen to my hands that time. Maybe I gained strength during the time and didn't impart any mental power, i'm not saying i can bend keys. But I KNOW what I felt was real, it was incredible, I felt very happy and calm.

I know this isn't exactly what happened to you and I'm not trying to hijack your thread, just thought I would share a similar experience. I haven't been able to recreate that feeling either or budge a key. Good luck on your future attempts.

Forsaken,
You should definitely check out this thread in the aliens and ufo forum:
"Stream technique success stories".sorry I'm not sure how to link to a thread
www.abovetopsecret.com...
It is a continuation of a great thread in which a member proposed a meditation technique that he claimed was a tool for communicating with ETs. Many of the posters have had similar experiences to yours and I think it would help shed ome light on your experience. I'm not sure what you meant by "Zen" but I think you are on the right track, it is definitely something spiritual.
