I wonder if Audioslave will do as good? (band members from RATM and Soundgarden).

I loved RATM. Audioslave just doesn't do it for me, though. It seems like they've got a prety solid fan base, though. Only time will tell.

I liked Rage much better than Audioslave. I am not a huge Chris Cornell fan.

And yes Rap/rock has been around for a while, but now it is way more common. I mean Aerosmith did one song with RunDMC, Anthrax did one song with Public Enemy. But nobody did it a lot.

Audioslave are a properly terrible band. They sound dull, and even though I love soundgarden ( especially super unkown) Chris Cornells voice sounds cheesy and #e with those wanky riffs that Tom Morello is pumping out nowadays. I mena he's an absoloutely wasome guitarist but his new riffs are like recycled RATM riffs that didnt work for them. I mean have you seen their videos with all the fireworks? What the hell.

RATM are an absoloutely classic band that will never be forgotten however the didnt make aas big an impact on music as a whole as Nirvana did. Ok now all this talk of rage ahs given me an idea for a new thread.

Resurrecting this old thread, as Nirvana are my second-favourite band ever (next to The Beatles). Nobody since has affected rock and roll as much. I still have favourite bands, such as System of a Down and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but Nirvana will always have that 'classic forever' status like The Doors did.

I dont know, ever listen to Coheed and Cambria, theyre pretty sick. They are putting the rock back into rock and roll. Songs like Time Consumer, In keeping Secrets, Delirium Trigger I could list quite a few that I would recommend to anyone with an open mind.

Kurt Cobain...not someone to admire, but someone to behold.

All the good music is back underground.

Nirvana, Guns and Roses and Mother Love Bone really shook up the corporate mainstream music world.

Now things have returned to what they were.

There is however an active underground out there.

Alot of this Gothic stuff is poised to break through soon.

Nirvana is the reason why alt. rock died.

But besides that I personally don't think that they were all that good, mediocre at best.

And there is good new music you just have to know where to look.

Where should you look???

The underground.

Because in my opinion everything in the mainstream that came out in the last few years is just a boring rehash of # that's already been done.

Well having been there seen it, Bought the T shirt. Continued on...

There were a few bands back in that era that were really good part of the movement. Music was changing. Taking on a more viceral face. The youth of the day were changing. Grunge was a way of life. The kinda anti system scociety change the mid class western kid was craving. And it went a long way.

Now one could site Pearl jam, Alice in chains, porno for pyros, smashing
pumpkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers
and others were all part of the isame wave.

What happened is the way people get their personal music changed. The first major flag of this was the battle of metallica and napster.

Now after that happened it went down hill really. The industry scared and loosing major profits now target the poppy hip hop class of kids and young teens who will still go out and buy music as apposed to downloading it off the net.

One of the most influencial musicians of our time(perhaps) Trent Reznor just recently hadan amazing interview where he talks alot about the state of the industry and where it may be headed.



I have followed Nine Inch Nails for years a decade plus. Thats what i started listening to after Kurt Died.Not right after mind you but not long. Also Our Lady Peace i like alot.

Well I would say that Kurt was a good pop song writer (had how many hits? like 4 or 5!) but couldn't play guitar at all and just did the best he could. The real musical talent of Nirvana was Dave Grohls drumming. He is a good drummer.

And there is good new music you just have to know where to look.

Nirvana is one of the most overrated bands in history.

They were not original in the least bit.
They were so overproduced its distracting.
The soap opera overshadowed the music.

They were a good band don't get me wrong, but they were just a look that MTV wanted to push on 13 year old suburban kids.

I think Cobain had the talent to evolve into an interesting performer if he didn't kill himself.
