But not surprising. Lethal force has become an accepted part of law enforcement- hell, I even agree with it. The problem is that there is a big
different between shooting a violent , armed suspect with a Berretta Model 92 and shooting them with an M249. Unfortunately, the way thigns are
progressing, it dones't look to be getting much better. It's classic escalation- the cops are allowed biggers toys, so criminals try to keep up,
forcing the cops to get yet bigger toys. The bigger the guns, the more militaristic police forces become, and the more likely the lethal shootings of
civilian bystanders becomes. Sad, but I can see the neccesity at points. Less than lethal ammunition doesn't cut it sometimes. Now, I know that whiel
the hand that steers the police is evil as anythign else, 90% of cops are 24 karat gold. Ditto the armed forces. The problem isn't that they're bad
people, it's that our own people are being used as a weapon agaisnt us by greater powers.
