U.S. allowing Al Qaeda operative into country?!!!

Apparently, the U.S. just granted a visa to suspected al-Qaeda terrorist Khaled al-Masri, who the 9/11 commission identified as an architect to the Sept. 11 attacks.

What the hey?!

Someone tell me there's more to this story than it looks on the surface. Because that first blush just reeks of federal imcompetence.

al-Masri is officially on a terrorist watch list.

Going to Afghanistan
The available evidence indicates that in 1999,Atta, Binalshibh, Shehhi, and Jarrah decided to fight in Chechnya against the Russians. According to Binalshibh, a chance meeting on a train in Germany caused the group to travel to Afghanistan instead. An individual named Khalid al Masri approached Binalshibh and Shehhi (because they were Arabs with beards, Binalshibh thinks) and struck up a conversation about jihad in Chechnya. When they later called Masri and expressed interest in going to Chechnya, he told them to contact Abu Musab in Duisburg, Germany. Abu Musab turned out to be Mohamedou Ould Slahi, a significant al Qaeda operative who, even then, was well known to U.S. and German intelligence, though neither government apparently knew he was operating in Germany in late 1999. When telephoned by Binalshibh and Shehhi, Slahi reportedly invited these promising recruits to come see him in Duisburg.89

Apparently, upon further research al-Masri was a "guest" of the CIA's rendition program in Afghanistan, picked up in Macedonia. He's now suing the U.S. for his arrest, and claims innocense. Perhaps he's here to meet lawyers?

Either way it's never been proven or disproven that he was associated with Al Qaeda.

A report on March 2, 2006 claimed that El-Masri may have been a leader of a radical Lebanese group "El-Tawhid" during the early 1980s - the time of the Lebanese Civil War.[13] The Arabic name for the Levantine Druze ethnic group is '"Ahl al-Tawhid". German reports assert that El-Masri reported his being a member of "El-Tawhid" or "Al-Tawhid" when he applied to Germany for refugee status, in 1985 - a reference to either to the civil war group or to his ethnic identity. The reference to "El-Tawhid" may have been confused with the group Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi lead, Al Qaeda in Iraq, used to be called "Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad".[14][15] "Al-Tawhid" translates simply as "monotheism". "Ahl al-Tawhid", the Druze's name for themselves, translates as "people of monotheism". While "Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad", the former name for Zarqawi's group, translates as the "movement for monotheism and struggle".

If the majority of these terrorists that supposedly took part in 9/11 are still alive and kicking , then what are the chances that the 9/11 cmmission was accurate about this al-masri guy being an architect of 9/11?

Has it not already been proven that men identified as being part of 9/11 have come forward and said it was not them and that they had no hand in it? They were all supposed to be dead. No?

If those hijackers are alive, why they don't come out and talk in the interview. I have yet to seen a video of them showing themselves alive in post-9/11.
