You're Gonna Be A Star!

I don't see what people are so upset about. :shk:

I mean think of all the advantages of being on camera all the time.

Everyone will be a celebrity. Everyone will be somebody.

It will be like billions of Truman Shows all at once.

We'll smile and blow kisses at the cameras, while far away, in some control room somewhere, our performances will be met with thunderous applause.

Just think of the convenience of being continuously monitored.

Lock your keys in your car? No problem! Just wave at the camera and say, "Little help?"

Who needs On-Star? CCTV: Always On... YOU!

No crime, no hooliganism, no deviant behavior, no troublesome nonconformity.

Help will always be on hand: corrections officers will be dispatched within seconds to deal with any behavioral discrepancies.

The world will be a paradise at long last.

And imagine if you will the incredible volumes of "CCTV's Funniest Bloopers" that will be available. With so much source material to work with, I predict a bright future for the blooper genre!

Best of all: NO RERUNS! Fresh new programming, 24/7/365.

Talk about your Reality TV! We'll have thousands of channels of reality shows.

O Glorious Vision! The people shall rejoice.

In the future, we will all be watching... ourselves. So relax!

It's a Brave New World, baby.

I have seen these CCTV's spring up in my city in the past two years. And while I have had the joy in seeing some of them damaged or destroyed mysteriously, they just plop right back up that week. I guess they are just so inexpensive they can replace them indefinetly.

Well, I definetly would hate to hear about microphones making it there.

That's exactly why these are becoming so popular: Cost.

The only difference between a camera with mic mounted on a pole and an actual crew tracking a suspect with a parabolic mic and zoom lense is price. The technology is far cheaper, faster, and more efficient. And neither need a warrant.

And the bit about this technology being used to round up people bad mouthing the government shows a level of intellectual impotence I can't even begin to describe.
