These people stood in line in Toronto and paid the big money for a PS3. Then took it front of the gamers waiting to get into the store and smashed the PS3 with a sledgehammer.

Smash My PS3

I was wondering when these guys would do this. They easily lost an item they could have sold for upwards of $3,000 on ebay. It's surprising to see, in the very least, how well the PS3 shell stood up to a sledge hammer. Sony developed this system to stand up to some very strong damages.

Man, that thing is built like a freakin' tank! Way to go sony, that just makes me that much more secure, knowing that even my little brother couldn't accidentally break mine when I finally do get it. After seeing that I get to thinking that it's only a matter of time before rogue PS3s start to colonize and take over the world.

"Yes PS3, we got you the launch codes. Oh yeah, and that game that you've been wanting us to play on you. Please don't kill me
"

At the first sign of a sledge hammer I would of called over the cops, got them to tazer his ass for having an offensive weapon in a public place, took the undamaged PS3 for 'safe' keeping, and then laid the boot in to his jerking twitching body...

Man, that vid made me feel sick to the core.

I'd like to see a video of someone getting beat with a PS3, that'd make my day.

That PS3 vs Wii Mac vs PC esque commercial was way funnier. Yes, clamshells are very strong so I'm not surprised by how much it took. I would used a jackhammer if I had the cash to blow on a PS3.

Oh yeah, one other thing. PS3's are not selling for over 2000. Take a look at ebay and look at the bids. Most of the Buy now for $$$$ are around 1200 for the 20 GB version and 1400 for the 60 GB version. I wonder when the hacked 500 GB versions start showing up on EBay as you supposedly can upgrade the HD without voiding your warranty. You can do the same thing on the Wii(Sort of), though you need to buy an external USB 2.0 case first.

There were plenty selling for around $2500 on ebay, the day it premiered. Here is one that sold for $10,000.

Okay, people who are buying them up for that much is insane when there are literally TONS of them available for nearly half the price(or a tenth for the idiot who bought it at 10k). I looked around EBay out of curiosity and that is what I found. I'm not surprised that a few sold at that much, though the average I've seen has been selling for what I posted above.

this means there are only 399,999 ps3 in america now. the wii will double that in a week maybe.

i thought this video was funny and a complete waste of time, money , and ps3. im amazed how it held up to that sledge hammer and im sure the guys making the video assumed it would be totally destroyed. they kinda look like wimps compared to the ps3.

i bet the wii would look worse from one hammer blow. the only question now is, can the ps3 hold up to firearms???

I dunno man, you know Nintendo uses that ultra super strength material known as nintendonium which is possibly the strongest stuff in the known universe.

Seriously, I remember watching something on G4 one time where they took a PS2, an XBox, and a Gamecube and put them through torture tests. The first one was dropping a 5 pound weight on top of each console. The XBox and Gamecube worked fine, but the PS2 got smashed. Then they hit them with a sledge hammer and again the XBox and Gamecube were fine. Then they dropped the two from a height that looked about 15 to 20 feet high. Only the Gamecube survived.

Nintendo knows how to build 'em tough

Ahaha. That is pretty funny. I can understand it, too -- all this waiting, so few units shipped, so expensive...I'd bet some people wanted to kill them, some people wanted to cheer them on for smashing the PS3.

Woo! Bloody Sony scum console deserved it!

That sounded a bit fanboyish didn't it?

I think these guys did it to a 360 as well.

Greatest thing ever. definately time and money well spent. And, apparently , this isn't an isolated incident. It's going on all around the country, and starting to spread. The next will be the Wii, but with a price of $250, it won't stand out as much.

I was actually passing by the Nintendo store two nights ago and saw a bunch of nerds camped out. I would love to see it happen in front of them.

Now the guys move onto the Wii. Here.

The Wii didn't last too long, compared to the PS3. I think if the Wii's walls were better bolted to the frame, it would have stood the attack. I didn't even see a dent in the Wii system, untill the walls flew off.

damn the wii sploded!

If anyone is wondering why they're doing this, it's because they pretty much get paid to do so. They own websites where people contribute money so that they can buy a new system and smash it. They virtually pay no money themseleves for the systems. Any excess money left over is used to buy new systems to sell, or they keep the money for themselves.
