SO,
Being that he is PROBABLY going to runwww.foxnews.com... nc.politics/youdecide2006
AND
He is on the board of directors for the producers of the Verichipworldnetdaily.com...
does it stand to reason that as a possible continuation of the war on terror this will finally be implemented as the final measure?
OH
did someone say war profiteering? Here, check out the section under private sector
en.wikipedia.org...

scary times indeed....

"He wants to see it [the VeriChip] in a real-world environment first," said Procter, who said he's trying to arrange a tour for Thompson at Hackensack University Medical Center, the first hospital to implement the technology in its emergency room.

But the authors question this explanation.

"We would expect Mr. Thompson to investigate the device before advocating it to others," said McIntyre. "It sounds like he has wisely decided to put off the implantation, perhaps due to the serious privacy and civil liberties implications of such devices, or perhaps due to the serious medical downsides, like electrical risks and MRI incompatibility."

Thompson may find himself under increasing pressure to get chipped in light of VeriChip Corporation's recent IPO announcement. The company is relying on Thompson's cooperation to give the much maligned human tracking chip an image boost.

"He said it on live television," said Procter of Thompson's chipping intentions. "We look forward to setting a firm date in accordance to his schedule and other commitments. ... We want to maximize the impact of [Thompson's chipping] event. ... We'd certainly like to ... really knock it out of the park." [/externalsource]

>_>. I dont know what to say on this. If Tommy Thompson wants to quit the process of making the chip that's up to him but he said that he would continue to make it so he isnt going to be stopped by some author sending him questions and he wouldnt stop if that author wrote a book like that.

This verichip doesnt sound very good to me! I wouldnt like it at all. if I had a chip implanted in me I would move somewhere else other than america.

Just because Thompson is on the board of directors of a company that is manufacturing chips is in no way evidence that these chips will be inplanted into people as a tool to fight terror.

First of all, it is a longshot that even if he ran that Thompson would win. I can think of several other candidates from his own party who would be better suited for the Presidency. Just because he set up an exploratory comittee doesn't mean that he is going to run, and it sure as hell doesn't mean that he will win.

Second, I would like to find out what other company boards that he is on. Guys like this oftentimes are on the boards of several different companies at once. It's just the way it is, that doesn't mean that there is anything sinister going on.

So, all in all, this thread is a long shot, at best.
I really wish people would look at evidence, not giant jumps of paranoid logic.

Please explain how this is paranoia. If you have to see an example, well just look at the current sitting President. A Texas oil family sends their son to the Presidency and SLAM, new piplines, oil field occupation, record profits for oil companies...
Is it really paranoid to think that a person can use the office of leadership to further personal financial gain? Ask yourself, would this not be the perfect opportunity to begin the process? Wasn't John Roberts told by Sen. Byden that mark his words he would rule on mandatory microchipping of the population during his term?

Do I need to explain to you how this is paranoid? This guy hasnt officially announced that he is running for President, and already you're talking about the potential ramifications of whether or not he wins.

It would be one thing if you were talking about this after he won the parties nomination, but were just a little under two years from that happening, and I've got to tell you, he wont win it.

I think that Bush has definetly used his power to further his own financial gain, but I think you're painting with broad strokes here. Just because Bush did it, doesn't mean that anyone else elected to the office of the President will do the same.
As far as I know, I haven't heard about the Byden - Roberts thing, but how is this a big deal? The Supreme Court will never allow mandatory microchipping of the public. Never. It simply will not happen as long as we have a Constitution, and if one day we wake up and we no longer have a Constitution, than more than likely Thompson will no longer be President, and we'll have bigger problems to deal with anyway.

That's why all this is paranoid.

Well sure, my timing may be a little early, I think that is only because it is in the beginning with the exploratory com. That doesn't add any sort of paranoia to the thread. Um...do you need a list of people who have abused political power for financial gain? Sorry for perhaps being ahead of the curve on this one but I'm surely not the only who can see this coming. Why do you not believe that the Supreme court will allow mandatory implants? Just 'cause?

I dont need a list of political figures who have abused the powers of their offices, I know that it happens, Im not ignorant. But like I said, I think that you're painting with broad strokes. Just because someone is a politican does not automatically make them a crook. Thompson definetly isn't perfect (I know that firsthand as a resident of Wisconsin), but I dont think that he would require implants in people. if you know anything about his record, you know that he doesn't support big Government and he believes in the protection of civil rights.

Again, I dont believe that the Supreme Court will allow Mandatory Implants because it is unconstitutional. If mandatory implants became a case, I dont think it would get pass the first stages of the Federal Court system, let alone all the way to the Supreme Court. One of the big things that isnt discussed when people talk about Roe V. Wade is the right to privacy. That is essentiall what that case is about; plus there are so many laws guaranteeing privacy that it simply won't happen.

Plus, do you think that the legislators will even consider passing that law, knowing how unpopular that legislation would be? There is no way that they would pass that legislation. No way.

Plus, what about the media and civilian protests? People would be outraged, and with legitimate reason. The American Public is not going to allow themselves to be implanted with microchips, let alone any microchip that might track them. It's basic civil rights.

The above reasons are why I dont think that the Supreme Court would allow mandatory implants. Just to make it easier, Ill break them down though.

1) Legislation would have to be introduced
2)Said Legislation would have to PASS (not going to happen)
3) Private citizens would seek an injunction on the law (guaranteed to happen if 2 happens... which it wont.)
4) District courts would have to side with the Government (not going to happen)
5) The Supreme Court would have to hear the case (would'nt happen, they would say to the lower courts, "Why haven't you taken care of this already??")
6) The Surpreme Court approves the legislation ( Will never happen)
7) The sitting President makes billions of dollars off of Government contacts. (ha!)

Dude, it's not going to happen. Like I said, the only way this would happen would be if we didn't have a constitution, and if the American Public allow their Constitution to be taken away, they deserve implants.

Thanx for the timely response. I guess warrentless wiretapping won't happen either, huh? Its unconstitutional. Besides it's not like we're moving to the National ID card in the near future or anything...www.rense.com...
Why not simplify this with a chip that cannot be lost? 2008, how perfect!

I'm from Wisconsin as well and the funny thing is that back when he was Gov. Thompson he would frequent the restaurant my mother waitressed at. He would always request her.

Off topic: I get your signature, and so does Metallica (hint: The Thing that Should Not BE)

Those programs will come under court review very soon. As sad as it is, our system isn't perfect and sometimes there is some lag in getting things going. But rest assured, the warantless wiretapping program will be shut down in the very near future.
As soon at the 110th Congress starts up, that program will be out the window.
Plus, those are different situation that chips being inserted into people. For chips to be inserted would require the publics consent, people would have to line up to get their injections, so ultimately, they're different situations.

Actually, I dont know if you know this, but my signature comes from "The Call of Cthulhu" by HP Lovecraft. Read it if you haven't. It's great.

Metallica had a great instrumental song called, "The Kall of Ktulu." It was pretty rockin. It's great on the S&M album, although the mix is a little off.

Look, what I am saying is that IF the U.S. population(military first, then general, then finally all new born) is going to be chipped as many claim, then this scenario provides the exact setting for it to happen. Remember where you heard it first.
