Chinese villagers (thousands) protested that their land was being illegally seized by corrupt officials. Chinese riot breakers came in and threw tear gas to break up the protest by the villagers with no promise of investigation.

Is it illegal though? I personally don't know anything about Chinese law.

Anyone care to enlighten us?

(on a side note. This sort of thing happens quite frequently in China, by all accounts)
