Either Dubya is Confused about how to support HIS OWN policy or he is just playing the Typical Role of all other 2-Faced Politicians by attempting to "Stroke" both sides for support. Pay attention to the Dates!!

Marriage Protection Week, 2003
By the President of the United States of America

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim the week of October 12 through October 18, 2003, as Marriage Protection Week. I call upon the people of the United States to observe this week with appropriate programs, activities, and ceremonies.

Marriage is a union between a man and a woman, and my Administration is working to support the institution of marriage by helping couples build successful marriages and be good parents.

U.S. President Bush Congratulates
Predominantly Gay MCC Church On 35th Anniversary

Call it a mixed-message at best. Or maybe politics at worst. During the same week that U.S. President George W. Bush endorsed the anti-gay Marriage Protection Week, he sent enthusiastic 35th anniversary congratulations to the predominantly gay and lesbian Metropolitan Community Churches, a group that performs more than 6000 same-sex weddings annually.

Metropolitan Community Churches is one of the world's largest gay organizations, and was founded by openly gay Rev. Dr. Troy D. Perry in 1968. Today, MCC provides almost 300 local churches for its 43,000 members and adherents in 22 countries.

In his letter dated October 14, 2003, to MCC Los Angeles, the founding congregation of Metropolitan Community Churches, President Bush wrote, "By encouraging the celebration of faith and sharing of God's love and boundless mercy, churches like yours put hope in people's hearts and a sense of purpose in their lives. This milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on your years of service and to rejoice in God's faithfulness to your congregation.

How does one denounce the right of gays and lesbians to marry in their churches and suggest they are incapable of having healthy marriages in one moment, and in the next rejoice in God's faithfulness to a gay and lesbian congregation that performs such same-sex marriages? Rev. Thomas asked.

Be sure and check out the MMC Church link above to see an image of the Original Letter sent to the Church which is Signed by G.W. Bush himself.

The "Election Stealing, WarMongering, Liberty Killing, Bull# Artist" that is representing this country with the "Once Honored Title" of "President of the United States of America" is a complete and total JOKE!

What Explanation could possibly be given for such a Wishy-Washy, Inconsiderate, Confusing & Mindless Action, when it comes from the person holding the Highest Position in the Country? This man doesn't have the brains or tactfullness to run a "Sno Cone Shak" let alone This Country which includes the Worlds Largest & Most Powerful Military and World Wide Influence.

Let's see...Since Bush has a *documented history* of saying one thing on one day & *doing* the exact oppostie on the very next day, how should a person interpret this?...

...Well, it's obvious that he's doing the opposite of *both* & going down the middle...

Since he's performing such hypocritical acts on a *nation-wide & world-wide* basis, I'm hoping that he finds that there's a razorblade in the middle...

I KNOW bush only wants marriage to apply to a man and a woman. I see this as a somewhat separate issue to congratulate the church on it's anniversary. He probably thinks God will help convert the gays or by attending church they may find forgiveness. For once...I'm gonna say...I don't see as much contradiction between these two things as in many of his other moves.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Bush is for Man/Woman Marriage too. However, the fact that he's sending such a letter of congratulations to the church that so Openly and Proudly promotes their support for the Homosexual Community right in the middle of Marriage Protection Week seems a bit strange. In fact I wonder if it was meant with a kind of sarcastic intent possibly. I think he's smart enough to know that his policy is not viewed as popular with MCC and recieving such a letter, even one that is praising them, is going to be seen as somewhat insulting or hypocritical. At best it shows his actions as an attempt to "Suck-Up" to those who he's already stabbed in the back. The main reason I posted it wasn't to expose anything major since as you said, he's been part of many other more sleazy moves. I simply found it strange and questionable and also I want to make sure that all Stupid Moves by Bush are exposed, even the minor ones.

I do appreciate the post. I agree...only by analyzing the contradictions and keeping an awareness will we see where the hypocrisy lies. That really goes for all in power...political people by their nature are representing and rewarding constituencies. I wonder if mandatory political service like jury duty wouldn't help balance the motives in politics to some degree.
