blood drive descrimination

We were having a blood drive today at school, and rumors about Gay rights came up. Now this may sound stupid, but If you are a male, and have had sex with another male, can you not give blood. What about if a female, and a female having sex?

There is no bodily fluids swapped though penetration.

Anyway, it's not so much discrimination as it is a law that had failed to be abolished once more was known and understood about HIV.
All blood is screened before it is used, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, so I too don't see the point to this law.

Yeah, if you really want to get fired up about ignorance in laws regarding blood donation, try living in Australia.

They used to have the law being discussed. Then it was changed recently, not abolished.
No male can donate blood after having sex with another male, unless a year has passed.
