I had THIS bad boy (although I swear mine was a console made by Lloyds that BECAME Tandy, then Radio Shack.) I had the light gun too.

I'm pretty sure that it was either Mario for the Nintendo, or Duck Hunt for the Nintendo. Hmmmmm, we'll say Duck Hunt for Nintendo. Those things were annoying at times, and what was especially bad, was when the dog laughed at you.

That's what I felt like when he laughed at me.

I think it was Pong for me too. In a world with no video games, we were easily impressed. I could make that electronic ball become a streak of light moving back and forth across the screen several times a second.

Then more advanced atari games came out like some kind of Tank Commando game and breakaway or breakout, a game where you hit the ball and made the bricks disappear at the top of the screen.

For some odd reason I thought the question was the first video game. I believe I played dos based text games before I played Pong. I don't remember the order since I believe I played Pong in the store before my parents actually bought an Atari system.
That was a long time ago. Dos based text games are older than Pong aren't they?

Sadly, it wasn't pong or pacman, it was actually "Spitting Image" for the Amstrad at the age of 4. I didn't know who Margaret Thatcher or Gorbacev were, but I enjoyed making them hit each other at the time

I honestly don't know, I was so young! But I can vividly remember a racing game on the GameGear and Settlers 3.

Probably something off Commodore 64. Haven't a clue what it might have been though.

It was for the Commodore 64, I was like 5 years old when my dad sat me down and let me play it haha. You had this Mario looking guy with a can of bugspray and you tried to kill all the bugs and whatnot....no idea how many levels (if any) there were in it. At that age I had a attention span of about 5 minuets .

Have you all beat - among the first popularized games were text adventures, noteably, Adventure! by Scott Adams, as I recall.

I remember playing Ultima I and II in computer stores that had those computers and programs set up for display, in the mid to late 70's. I believe these came out before the commodore 64 or Pong were available commercially.

Please correct me if I am wrong, it was so long ago.

OH! When I was in high school in 1976-1977, I played a lunar lander type game where the code was written on paper with hole punches! The game typed out vectors (You are traveling at X speed horzontally and Y speed vertically, your altitude is Z. How much fuel do you wish to use?) It then calculated the result and gave you a new set of vectors.

I believe this will beat all unless there were some folks invoved in computer tech in the mid 70's.
