I've just listened to the David Adair, Art Bell Coast to Coast show in their archive.
David seems to speak credibly, but claims to have invented a Water-Mellon sized nuclear rocket engine that uses a magnetic bottle to control the
plasma, and which derives electrical energy from the moving plasma.
That would be some accomplishment, and he claims to have done this in the 1970s.
This is hard for to accept without further information.
My understanding is that magnetic bottles capable of holding a nuclear plasma for a short duration have been built, but they are the size of a very
large building.
And deriving useful power to do some work from the system has otherwise not been accomplished by other normal human beings, with the commonly known
technology.
If it had been accomplished, no one would build or contemplate building new fission power reactors, which in fact are the type of nuclear reactor,
human beings are currently capable of building, since with the sort of system Adair describes could be used for much more efficient, and significantly
cleaner nuclear fusion systems.
