It might be worth noting that while uber would be intelligible in Northern German languages, I couldn't get a translator program to translate sild from German. The implication is that we're either being lead to an event in Scandanavia or Denmark, or else one between Germany and the above.

red herring does seem most likely though. I'm guessing we're looking for a bluffed offensive that was used to force peace in a Central or Northern European war, probably a german one. Alternately it could have something to do with the National Redoubt or the Odessa

sild (sld)
n. pl. sild or silds
A young herring other than a sprat that is processed as a sardine in Norway.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Norwegian and Danish, from Old Norse sld, herring.]

it seems to me that what they are looking for is a "plan" put in place after a country or group was defeated.

uber in german means "up" or "upper" or "top" depending on how it is used.

sild-- the estonian trans. means "bridge"

could be something.

germany/estonia
upper/bridge
top/bridge
over/bridge
---
or, its herring. not realy sure.

in rereading the clue (for the 100th time) I think that it might not even be a country that was defeated. It could be something that a nation did after defeating another nation.

I've tried

marshallplan
schlieffenplan
morgenthauplan
daweplan
five-yearplan

along with "the" in front of each one

those were the ones I could think of offhand.

in the address bar in the form of

leave out any spaces, and i'm pretty sure that capital letters don't matter either.

edit for spelling

Thanks, although at the rate we've been going we might be here for a while. This is a tricky one, and what's even worse is you can't have one letter out of place even if you do have the right answer. Hope we all brought our spellcheckers

For a moment I was absolutely sure that I had it: Operation highjump, but no luck.

The estonian translation as bridge is interesting.
What was not a plan but a bridge over after defeat?

That sounds more and more like ODESSA to me in that light.

On the other hand, it could be a territorial capture that was not aimed for but fell into a nation's hands anyway even in defeat.

That's what the Austrians got with part of Venetian territory after the failure of the First Coalition.

I'm not sure, but maybe you don't need to put the wehave25, have you tried just going to the next one, startthenextpath.html? If that doesn't work, then i'm not sure what else would.
