No one is denying it can be used and have terrible effects, but call it what it is and is not a chemical weapon!!!!!

Chlorine gas was first used on the trenches in world war one. Every historian, MOD expert you can think of will call chlorine gas a chemical weapon.

My personal definition of a chemical weapon is when you use the chemical rather than simply the explosive properties of substances to kill-main people.

Also white phosphorus is hardly better than Siren. In fact I would much rather die from VX than phosphorous…

So Is There Any Chance We Could Do A Swap?
Since we seem to be going backwards in time regarding both our attitude to war and attitude to inhumane weapons is their any chance we could legitimise VX but ban White Phosphorus? This would surely be the “humane thing to do” and would therefore be a general improvement in the world we live.
From the militaries point of view VX would be a extremely useful way of killing terrorists in Afghanistan (its heavier than air so should fall into caves quite well). And because it contaminates surfaces for years it would be hard for the Taliban to return.
As for the idea of our enemies not manufacturing it if we don’t: Well the reality is we don’t manufacture it and they do.

As for the real reason that WP isn't classified as a chemical weapon, it's because it's not the toxic properties that kills you. It's the fact that it burns you in horrible ways. Still, the definition of a "chemical weapon" is that it poisens you.

But interrestingly, there have been no charges filed, no uproar (at least that I've seen) and no one else seems to care. This just confirms that the US government is above the law.
