Two British children have been found dead in a hotel room on the island of Corfu, Greek police have said.
Their parents were taken to a local hospital after being discovered alive but unconscious in the same room.

A coroner arrived at the hotel along with the emergency services but the cause of the children's deaths is not yet known.

The family, who have not been named, were staying at a hotel in the village of Gouvia.

At first I thought gas leak, but then surely other patrons of the hotel would be affected? Murder? Why did the parents survive? All very strange.

Poison Fear Over Holiday Kids' Deaths

Two British children have been found dead in a hotel room on the Greek island of Corfu and authorities suspect they may have been poisoned.

Their parents were found alive alongside them but they were unconscious.

A police official confirmed: "The children are dead and their parents are in a comatose condition. They are all British citizens."

The two children were found dead by a cleaner in their room in Gouvia on the island's eastern coast.

Their parents are in a critical condition and are undergoing treatment.

Local police said that preliminary test results indicated poisoning may have been involved.

Toxological tests will be carried out to determine what substances the children and their parents may have consumed.

Corfu, off the western coast of mainland Greece, is one of the most popular Greek islands for British holidaymakers.

Of course. Poisoning.

Could be murder suicide but theyd hardly be likely to do it on holiday.

A carbon monoxide leak or something similar is probably more likely as this would affect the kids quicker than the parents.

Well, remember the father who jumped off the balcony of his hotel with his two kids in his arms, killing his daughter. They were on holiday.

This is real sad news indeed, there's talk that they may have been killed by eating something like a mushroom,.

reports are that the children may have been dead for up to 9 hours,

Just hope they find out soon, would hate to think others may be harmed,

The other sad part to this is that the mother was in the UK her ex hubby and father of the children had took them on holiday with hos girlfriend,

Just to update this as the results are now out,

It seems the children died of carbon monoxide poisoning,

The children were found dead in their hotel room next to their father Neil Shepherd and his partner Ruth Beatson.

The police are preparing to issue charges of negligent manslaughter against the hotel, the BBC has learned

This is an awfull event and made worse that others in the hotel where also feeling sick and where told it was down to them drinking,

So sad,

Mr Shepherd, 38, and his partner, 27, have regained consciousness but have not yet received the news of the children's deaths.

Mrs Wood and a man believed to be her husband were accompanied to the morgue by officials from the British Consul
