is it just me or is anitracism going too far,
the blackboard's now a chalkboard whereas the whiteboard's still a whiteboard
black american people are constantly called African American whereas white people are white people
murder of a different race is worse than murder of the same race
etc etc
anybody else sick of this, i don't consider myself racist, i consider the people making 'pro'racist seem better than racist, when its still racism
any ideas, points or further examples be my guest

Well what about:

Policeman? Police Person?
Mailman? Mail Person?

Should be discuss gender dominated rolls that women are now standing up against?

What does any of it matter? I'm missing the relavence.

I wasn't aware we officially renamed the blackboard to the chalkboard. I was under the assumption most schools have resorted to marker boards.

Do we white people need a name? I'm not even sure why we consider black people African American. Sure their ancestors may of originated in Africa, but do we consider other Americans from their origin? Scottish Americans? Irish Americans? English Americans? No. American is American, like Canadian is Canadian. Native American? No, your American or Canadian.

Murder of a different race is worse? How?

If you view every white on black or black on white murder as race related, you may have an issue or two of your own. Not everything is based on rase, it may just be a run of the mill hatred on thier actual charachter.

Sick of what? White people not being stigmatised? Being denied your rights to the blackboard?

I don't think we ever had a truly black blackboard when I was in school, they were more green than black, so maybe it is more appropriate to call them chalkboards.

A blackboard is a blackboard, whiteboard is a whiteboard, people with black skin are black people and people from boston talk funny.....

Seriously, I don't understand what all the fuss is about. I'm not going to quit calling something what it is just because a few PC-types feel that it's 'offensive'.

Ding Ding Ding!

I don't see what the problem is in all of it. Why does everything turn into a race issue?

Right off the bat, I'm going to say its just you.

I don't recall there ever being a law saying such.

black american people are constantly called African American whereas white people are white people

I almost never say african american. Its almost hard to say even, not very good meter on it.

murder of a different race is worse than murder of the same race
etc etc

A racist murder is worse than a non-racist murder, yes, especially when its intended as part of a wider system to intimidate and terrorise a whole group of people.

I don't know about 'anti-racism' going to far, but PC 'newspeak' certainly goes too far. On my old campus, there was a flyer posted all over the place demanding that the school not have a 'picnic', because, according to these idiots, 'picnic' was where old time southerners would go to have a party outside and 'pick' a black to lynch him.
Absolute stupidity, the stuff people beleive. Its a french word, and there was never anything like that going on in the south (lynchings, sure, but like that, and thats why we have picnics to this day???! heck no).
Even when it was revealed that the word had absolutely no such meaning, people still insisted there be no picnics, because 'the word still offends'.
Thats stupid.

but do we consider other Americans from their origin? Scottish Americans? Irish Americans? English Americans? No.

Every italian I know is proud to be an 'italian american', they even have halls celebrating that fact, and thats without italians only being called a slur whenever they were refered to, like happened with blacks.
Also, there's something I don't udnerstand about this. Isn't African American more patriotic than 'a black man'??? I mean, blacks aren't saying 'we need a special name all our own' or 'we are africans, not americans'. African American is as innocuous as Italian American or Irish American, etc. Heck, most people just call italians italians and thats it, at least blacks are insisting it be 'african american'.

Anyway, anyone that doesn't call a black board a black board because some black guy is offended by it is an idiot.
