Radar plane over Newquay?

I was just looking through some holiday snaps and saw one with a radar plane that was flying really low over Newquay. I know there's nothing mysterious about it, but does anyone have any information on what it was doing?

If I can remember correctly, it was around the time of the foiled attempt, during the summer holidays.

by radar aircraft are you refering to Nimrod R1

or something more descriptive such as an aircraft with a huge aerial on like Sentry (AWACS)

It's the second one, I'm afraid I can't post the photo, I havn't got a scanner, sorry.

It was going really low, it looked amazing, the ariel spinning and the noise, it was so loud!

I think it may have been to do with the terror plot, Newquay is a big, crowded town right near the coast.

I saw it multiple times throughout the day, a couple of times in town, a few more when I was surfing. There are alot of RAF aircraft buzzing around, but this felt different because it was pretty low.
