Quicksilver and the Egyptians
Mercury or quicksilver is a metallic element, known to the ancient Chinese, Hindus, and Egyptians. Silver-white and mirrorlike, it is the only common metal existing as a liquid at ordinary temperatures. Mercury is used in barometers, thermometers, electric switches, mercury-vapor lamps, and certain batteries

The Egyptians knew about the quicksilver

Quicksilver and Sulphur the generative forces of the universe
Athena and Hermes are not mentioned in any myths as a pair in ancient Greek mythos, but, they are seen as dual participants in the Mysteries...also, the alchemical formula connected with the philosophers stone was Sulphur and Quicksilver. Sulpher is symbolic "Spirit" and Quicksilver is the volatile substance in need of fixing. Together, they represent symbolically the generative forces of the universe. Sulphur is a material that was considered sacred to Athena.

Sulpher and Quicksilver related with Athene and Hermes (Gods) and are the generative forces of the universe.

Quicksilver the guide to the above (heaven of Gods)
These and other properties convinced alchemists that mercury transcended both the solid and liquid states, both earth and heaven, both life and death. It symbolized Hermes himself, the guide to the Above and Below.

Then we are going to read about the vessel of Hermes
The griffin is a half-lion and half-eagle creature that symbolizes the Conjunction of the fixed and volatile principles. An allusion to the Vessel of Hermes.

And so... quicksilver is related to the way to the universe... to the God Hermes... and the vessel...

Why does it symbolisez all of that? Because it is the fuel for the spaceships of Hermes... the guide to the above...

Ps... it is really a vessel just look at the Egyptian book of death: Let me behold Horus when he is in charge of the rudder [of the Boat of Ra],

Anyone which thinks that there might be kinda a bit truth in my reasoning?

Quicksilver --- messenger earth and heaven --- transportation
With his quicksilver mind, clever tongue and cunning intellect, the Greek archetype Hermes, better known by his Roman name, Mercury, was born to be the messenger of the gods. In traditional astrology, Mercury governs communication, transportation, and activities of the mind, and rules both Gemini and Virgo. A traveler, Hermes crosses borders with ease. Winged Mercury darts nimbly between the Kingdoms of the Sky and the Underworld

Mercury / quicksilver was related to Hermes... the traveler... winged mercury darts nimbly?

A wonder... Hermes was the messenger of the Gods... so he had to go from heaven to earth... quicksilver --- transportation.. vessel the Griffin... anybody sees if my reasoning could be right?

Hermes and mercury the only traveler of the Gods
as Hermes was the one deity who could come and go through the three worlds.

Also a coincidence Hermes was the only deity which went through those three worlds... he was really the only messenger... still coincidence that he was related to quicksilver... and was said that quicksilver was the way to heaven... and it was related to the vessel of Hermes...?

The more you get to know the better it gets.. i guess

magical figures and the vessels -burning- on charcoal... the incense of mercury
Excerpt 2: "The Magical figures of Mercury are to be drawn in yellow-orange chalk upon the ground as shown. At the quarter where the Spirit is to appear is drawn a triangle within a circle. At its points are to be placed three vessels burning on charcoal the incense of Mercury.

Goddes Athena
Athena seats down in the stern of the ship, and near her seats Telemachus

Well... the sulphur which combined with the quicksilver of Hermes would be the forces of the universe...

Looks to me kinda like a ship... ow uhm.. it's a ship as the museum texts say...

two Gods with ships... then the quicksilver... the idea that it was fuel... and the fact that they believed that it was the way from earth to heaven...

Perhaps it could really be fuel for the ships in which the Gods flew (according to the Gods of the Greek).

You perhaps wonder why I reply to this topic again, but I have found something addition, not from the Greek but at the ancient Indian texts:

According to the Dronaparva part of the Mahabarata, and the Ramayana, one Vimana described was shaped like a sphere and born along at great speed on a mighty wind generated by mercury. It moved like a UFO, going up, down, backwards and forwards as the pilot desired. In another Indian source, the Samaveda, Vimanas were "iron machines, well-knit and smooth, with a charge of mercury that shot out of the back in the form of a roaring flame."

The Vimana's (in which the Gods flew) got their spead from the mighty wind which was generated by mercury

Perhaps also nice to know:
last I also found a site which claimed that the secret chambres of the Egyptians was filled with mercury (quick silver) but I don't know the site anymore (I have it somewhere but I have got a bit a lot of links
).

I hope I can find it again, but I already knew that the chambres were probably filled with it (and also drawings of the starsystem, Gods etc. on a wall tens of feet high).

now i am wondering, what is the "magnetic" properties of mercury?? or the general properties of mercury?
how could it be used as fuel? is it radioactive?
does it have any characteristics that could be used to obtain negative energy?

by the way, as far as i heard, the vimanas were fueled by an substance wich could not be translated, they didn't know what it was. the translators only mentioned that it was possible it was mercury.
i don't have a link to this, because i do not want to go through my 200++ links to find it.

Ask the Gods why they used it, with at least 12,000 years of technological advantage they should know perhaps something that we don't?

And well as far as I can say the ancient texts of the Indians do say so, and mercury is also related to the only messenger of the Greek... that's all I have to go on I know
And of course the ritual with the spacecraft.

200 links is a lot by the way, I do have got about, I counted them just about 120, that's still a lot more then I thought I had

If you would like to post that site here that would be nice
But the Indian texts do talk about mercury.

Mercury is great. It's the only element which is a liquid.

They used to inject it into your penis to supposedly get rid of syphillis. It's also the cause of "mad as a hatter", as I'm sure you know.

I think it's a naturally fascinating substance, I'm not surprised so many cultures have found different uses for it.

I want to see that supposed lake of mercury in that temple in China they refuse to open.

as far as i can find out, the engines themselves were made of mercury?? 4 of them. and the fuel were the power of the universe(mantra).

i didn't find the link i was looking for, so i may have misunderstood what the text were saying. i thought they were talking about unknown metals, but it may have been unknown metal-alloys.

Supher and Mercury perhaps the Mantra?
The generative forces of the universe.

That would kinda mean that sulpher and mercury would be the fuel of the Gods... wouldn't it?

maybe it would. to bad there haven't been found any archeological evidence of the vimanas or any of the weapons described in the vedas. i do believe they have excisted, and the question here is when, not if.
hmm! could the dates presented be totally wrong?
i wonder what metal was used in the vimana-design? and how long it would take before that metal would "evaporate" (don't remember nay other word).
the vedas themselves were supposed to be from 9 000 bc? how long ago could it be since the acual events happened. just a thought. i think 15000 years is to little for all trace of the acual devices to disappear? any thoughts?

Darkspace, don't forget, the Vimana's were the ships of the Gods... and the Gods aren't terrestial according to them... but from Sirius (following other beliefs)... so there would not be evidence of it left... because it wasn't a civilisation on earth.

was it?
what about the "ship" the emperor got as a present?
and how come the ....... never mind
here's a link www.geocities.com...
i do not know about it's autenticity though.

Look from who he got that present... from a lord... just like Allah is called lord etc.

He referred to several Hindu texts and pointed out that Indian gods and heroes fought in the skies using piloted vehicles armed with weapons. These weapons consisted of seven different types of mirrors and lenses which were used for offensive and defensive purposes.

It were the Gods with their vehicles

And that ship as a present... I do kinda think that that is more just the traveling in a spaceship... not really getting it... but hey could be

Nice site and the information is good
But I rather have edu. sites etc. because this is geocities

Look just at this piece of information:
"There are ancient Indian accounts of manmade wooden vehicles that flew with wings in the manner of modern airplanes. Although these wooden vehicles were also called vimanas, most vimanas were not at all like airplanes. "

That's not true, most vimana's were airplanes. And they weren't restricted to earths atmosphere... that's just one person of that book which says that

Just search on edu. sites and you will see that this will not be confirmed

But it's a really nice site

Ow wait, just look at the same site:

The word vimana is a Sanskrit word, purportedly derived from vamana: "he who is able at three strides to take measure of the entire earth and heavens."

While that book (which they put in the same text) says that they were bound to earth... while the word itself already says that it could also go to heaven...

With sites like this you have to be kinda carefull

i know LeenBekkemaa

i would have loved to have learned sanskrit and read the original texts myself.
i have a deep fasination with ancient civilisations and their stories and myths. there are too many coincidences between many stories for some of it it not to be true. i believe in a lot of things, and the vimanas is one of them. well one will probably never find out, will we. the earths lost history is really lost.
