Huge Explosions in Baghdad

On CNN and on its website the pentagon is reporting that forward ammo base: Falcon has caught fire and is still exploding. So far they are reporting all military and civilian personnel have been evacuated

Yeah I saw this on cnn. Those children over there hearing these explosions one right after another. They must of been scared. These explosions where huge. Their still going on. Wonder what went wrong.

Well according to the BBC website, the US Military are not sure but they believe that the ammunition "cooked" in the heat.

Some mortars were fired at FOB Falcon in Baghdad. One hit the ammo holding area, causing a fire, and the subsequent "cooking off" of ammo.

The camp wasn't evacuated. There was some damage to some buildings. Best of all, no reported casualties, military or civilian.

this incident sorta died off to nothing...must have been a bad attack if the army isn't talking about it any more. here is an article that states 300 injuries in the attack?!?!?

i already read the military propaganda that say no injuries, only 100 troops stationed at FOB falcon (also known as scania) and the base is back up and running 24 hours after the attack.

not alot of reporting on this attack.....if it was, as the militarty says, not succsesful and has and will not cause any supply problems...you'd think the military would be playing it up a bit to make it look like the 'enemy' is incompetent.....

or they don't want to say much so as not to bring anymore attention to a situation that they don't real want people to look at...

what is the total casualty list for iraq..not just KIA but deaths from accidents, suicides, non battle injurys that need evac ect???
