I know the UK will have made the same errors in the past but we no longer have the death penalty beacause of this yet your country does.

I mentioned it only in comparison to requested execution by an accused criminal sentanced to life in prison. If you were suffering life imprisonment wouldn't you want the option of ending the suffering, the same way a terminally ill patient would?

My opinion on this would be the fact that they are there for killing someone. Ending someone elses life. Making the family and loved ones of the murdered suffer. They get no sympathy from me.

On the other hand, Our prisons are so overcrowded as it is, not to mention all the "lifers" to come. Each one of these people sucks up MY tax dollars. I am paying for this guy to live in a pen, because he couldn't control himself and killed someone. I feel that my money could go to pay for something a little better...like school systems and after school programs.

As for abortion, anything before 14 weeks is fair game.

Er, the UK abolished capitol punishment back in the '50's. So the answer to that would be...no, there have been no death penalty errors for half a century. The U.S. is the only industrialized western country that has the death penalty. This is why some Europeans and others consider us to be cruel.

Personally, I do not believe an unborn fetus that is 14 weeks or less is a human being. So I'm pro-choice, every person needs to make that decision him or herself, it's between their conscious and them. I am against the death penalty. "An eye for an eye" mentality isn't a good thing, IMO. It's too violent and we need to become a more peaceful, less violent society.

The MAIN point is not whether it is ok to execute murderers and child killers with the death penalty but if there is a 1% chance that an INNOCENT person might be put to death because of a mistake in our imperfect justice system...is the death penalty justified at all? Are we willing to take that chance and who are we to say that it is justified if legitimate killers are executed because of the policy? If you were the innocent man on death row would YOU think the death penalty was justified?
