Did anyone by chance see strange lights in the sky above York England on 4th October 2006.

I went out of my house at around 9.00 pm and looked up into the sky as I was impressed by how clear the sky was when I noticed a VERY bright object in the sky that was probably about as bright as Venus looking North. I was puzzled as there are no bright planets around at the moment so I was about to go inside to get my binoculars when the light just sort of shrunk to a small red point of light.
I called my wife and she pointed out that there were now 3 points of light flying southwards in a parallel line.

What does anyone think.
It's worth pointing out that there was an unusual amount of ariel activity that night - lots of military aircraft flying around pretty loudly which is quite unusual.
So I suppose it could have been some kind of military excerise.

What does anyone think about this ??

I'm not in the UK, but points of light in the sky, sounds like the ufo.
Good that the military was there.
I think it was a test.

Might be a black project command that know when and where the
ufo mission will take place.

Ufos seem to dim down and just hover. Putting on the breaks or fast start
seems to cause sparks. Or the current buildup is captured and the craft
surroundings get bright.

I just read about low flying craft near roads and wonder why the ol' Close
Encounters effect of knocking out car engines didn't take place.
Either dis informatin or at low power the magnetic effects are low.

Sounds to me like it could have been a small aircraft. If the plane was facing you and was fairly low the main light would have appeared very bright, the aircraft could have then altered direction so that one of the red lights was now the only one visible.

Could you hear any engine noises? Is your house in an area that gets a lot of air traffic?

the other day i saw a big silver ball in the sky, i watched it for ages, couldnt believe what i was seeing and wished i had a camera with me, after about 5 mins it started to turn, thats when i realised it was just a helicopter hovering above the M20 motorway, doh, i was convinced it was a ufo
just thought i'd point out how easy it is to confuse normal air traffic with ufo's, i felt pretty stupid after that lol

Thanks for the interest.

I'm pretty sure it was not an aircaraft or helicopter. I'm pretty into aircraft and stuff and I would hope I would recognise them - besides they were silent.
It may well have been military aircraft but they must have been really high.
When the light had dimmed it looked like how a satelite would look - same kind of speed - but 3 in a line ?? Don't think so.
I'm not saying they were alien craft but definately something I have not seen before.
The formation would suggest military aircraft but how could one emit so much light - for about 4 - 5 seconds then blink out and be so high ?

The video of the object over Sunderland was quite a lot lower than the objects I saw but of similar speed. If there were 2 circles glowing red / orange it may have been afterburners on an aircraft. Maybe some kind of military operation.

I had to look at your posted stills to id, the video I did not try and
enlarge save as jpg and zoomin more.

But I'll risk it and say it might be a triangle craft which can have two bright spots.

I hear that local bashers say its fire ballooms, something new over in UK,
seen this on a UK website listing events but only once was a picture posted.

My guess is that it has something to do with Warton (testing ground for BAe Systems). They're developing new UCAV's there. As well as that, the North of England has plenty of other RAF bases around.

Not that I am a disbeliever in UFO's, but Warton is a constant headache for the local area's air traffic control and airports, with constant "sightings" of UFO's, which are in fact prototypes of new aircraft or mis-identifed Air Force jets.

It would be even more interesting if you could post some details about your sighting.

Maybe it is just coincidence, but I am from Leeds and I started this thread on the 27th of September.
26th Sept.
I know there isn't much information on it, but thats because I wanted to see if anyone saw what I saw rather than polluting any memories.
Granted no one came forward with a 'sighting' but I can tell you what I saw didn't make much sense and its a week before this sighting.
Also people unaware of Leeds location it is 24 Miles from York, which as you will understand is pretty much nothing relatively speaking.

You're welcome to use my report on your website.
The problem I am having now is remembering things clearly - I remember the main details but taht's it really as I wrote them down at the time. I think this can be a problem with reporting in retrospect as your brain can sometimes fill in spaces with what you thought you saw... if you get my drift ?

UK has listing of sightings.

Only one has a picture posted in a dark sky.

See how they say its fire balloons.

www.ufoinfo.com...

A UK sightings web page.

I would say the two are similar to those linked to above.

As for the thing that I saw being a UFO Fire Balloon - that's just daft. It was incredibly bright at first and that's what grabbed my attention. If it was a dull orange I would have either not noticed or passed it off as a satelite.
This was brighter and larger than Venus on a good day ! And then it blinked off without any noise.
Now I know it could have been the front light of an aircraft and I have been fooled by these before as they come head on but there was no noise and it remained in formation with2 others.
I'm still leaning more to some kind of military exercise especially with what's going on in Asia right now.
