This Pastor has guts!!

www.bright.net...
We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We confess that we have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it Pluralism,
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery,
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare,
We have killed our unborn and called it choice,
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable,
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem,
We have abused power and called it politics,
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition,
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression,
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent to direct us to the center of Your will and to openly ask these things in the name of Your Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen!"

Got this by email today anyone know if it's true ????

It's "sort of" true.

The best place to check this out is Snopes.
www.snopes.com...

So as you can see, the basic text of the 1996 prayer is correct, but the "subsequent actions" aren't. The "number of leigslators" that walked out was exactly one... and yes, the pastor became quite a hot item for awhile. I'd guess that the number of phone calls, etc, may not be a reliable figure.

Whether it's true or not...It oughtta be!

IMHO, the Government should start each day (Every Branch, Every Office) by reading the Constitution, at least Article 2, Section 1,
"Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:
'I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.'"

...And then refer to Article 6,
"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."
This would serve as a reminder that all of these Offices, President included, are binding themselves to the Constitution as a legally binding contract.

...Then also refer to Article 2, Section 4,
"The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."
This should serve to remind them that any breach of contract can serve to remove them from Office & face Judicial Indictment afterwards!

I see no better place for such a prayer, as posted above, than in the Halls of Power...
