This is a bit of an op/ed but it's short and I'll put it here.

Please North Korea, explode your nuclear bomb! I want to see it! Stop blackmailing the world saying you're going to test it just to get free food or oil or girls for Kim Jong-il or whatever.

Do your damned test and explode the damned thing if you really have it!!!!!

The minute he puts up, he knows thats the minute he gets shut up - forever.

The Americans, Chinese, Japanese and south Koreans cannot and will not tolerate a nuclear north korea ... he has one and uses it to test, well he will have no more.

To paraphrase a US General - The morning he detonates the bomb, his world will change forever.

i do agree - put up or shut up and be grateful for all the food and aid you get sent.

My opinion?

I say we "put up" an ICBM into the sky loaded with the most destructive nuclear weapon in our arsenal and have it aimed directly at that nut's house so we can finally force him to "shut up".

I'm sick of them. North Korea is like the little kid that when he gets ignored, he does things for attention. What's the proper thing to do with a kid like that? Smack their ass around and make them shutup. It's time to deal with these people. The U.N. has proven they are useless. Nothing has been done with North Korea for their missile tests. So what are our options?

1) Screw around with diplomacy. WHEN North Korea doesn't take that seriously, they continue to develop their nuclear arsenal and eventually use it on South Korea or Japan, which we will then nuke them anyway.

Or

2) We launch a pre-emptive strike and nuke them now.

You people will say "oh what about the loss of life? we can't nuke them". Yeah, well, you know what? What do we do? Do we wait for North Korea to kill tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands in South Korea and Japan, only to turn around and kill millions in North Korea? Or do we save those hundreds of thousands in Japan and South Korea and just kill the millions in North Korea? I'd rather have option number two.

Does anybody take this situation seriously?

Whatever happens to North Korea will adversely affect South Korea, because ultimately it is the South that must shoulder most of the burden in the aftermath. Everything South Korea has worked for in the past fifty years will disappear the moment North Korea falls the way most of you want it to.

It seems like an impossible situation, but we MUST have peaceful reunificiation. Why do you think U.S.-ROK relations have become so strained since the end of the Cold War? Its because our leaders are advocating/presenting policies that are counter to the continuing economic development of the ROK.

Why not try to end this potential nuclear war with one shot to Kim Jung Il. Like the people of North Korea really want war, they want food and shelter not war. While I understand this will cause for a diaspora of people to China, South Korea and other locations isn't this one of the best options we have? Like China can't handle another several million!

What I don't get is why China doesn't shoulder most of the burden. They share the border with North Korea and they have so much to benefit from a fallen North Korea. At the same time, they do have a lot of gain from a divided Korea.

Um, by showing you opinions (I presume you are American,) arn't you contradicting you claim. In theory, you claim claim that the North Korean do not want the Bomb. (As national defence) Yet if we apply the same logic, wouldn't Americans not want war too? Can not the North Korean Regime basically justify their actions by the endless ranting of so many on this board that calls for pre-emtive strike.

If the american politicans can justify invasion by circumstantial evidence, (that one year of law is actually worth something....omg...) can not Kim Jong justify their nuclear research program to both their people and the international community. based on actual evidence?

Since this is a compiracy site, has it ever occured to anyone that SK and NK, long binding enamies, might be actually co-operating behind everyone's backs to create a "great Korea" that posess not only a substantial convential military, but a nuclear arsenal as well? Do you really think that NK can afford to fund a substantial nuclear/ballistic missile program all by themselves.

China gives NK thousands of tonnes of grain a year, I don't exactly consider it gaining something.....

Dick what happens when someone says lets drop a nuke on Bush to shut him up once and for all. You talk as if these weapons are toys, well there not and the destruction they unleash is bad for all of us not just the ones on the receiving end. How about some grown up logical debate for a change.

I'm betting they "shut up" partly based on news like "Japan, China demand N. Korea scrub A-bomb test". CBC. One would hope that pressure from China might see a regime change in the DPRK as do-able.

well, it looks like they heard ya.

Initial reports are stating the North Korea has tested a nuke.

The US says it has detected a 4.2 on the rictor scale in NK.
A senior whitehouse official is confirming it.

dg i sure hope your right....but then i sure hope your wrong....

NK with the Bomb now will start a nuclear arms race within the asian pacific rim, as niether japan, south korea or the countries further out will be able to tolerate sat next to a very oppressive nuclear nieghbour.. Japan especially.

I first expect to see japan pull out of the wwII treaties allowing it only self defence forces, and go all out to become a massive military power in the region - which china will loath because of their traditional hatred of each other...

What I want to see now is if they allow NK to stay a country with Nukes, then they cannot say didly squat to iran.... good for the goose is good for the gander....

I don't think this was a nuke.

I could be wrong, and I'll admit it if I'm wrong.

Radio just reported that is was equivalent to 550 tons of TNT..Half a kiloton.
Could this be done conventionally?

Now Foxnews just reported maybe as large as 15 kilotons.
so maybe I was wrong..

What pretext will Bush use now with Iran? Can he still invade them after all, we now know that NK has nukes and will use them?

NK just kicked Bush in the .....teeth.

Hardly..

More like they are proving him right..

remember, Iran, North Korea..members of the axis of evil club..

I have also read the half kiloton report. I think it is also interesting that almost everyone is being a little cautious about confirming it as a nuclear test.

The Russians have said they are 100% certain but others are not being so dogmatic. When you add in the instant comment from NK that "no radiation had escaped", (to head off any negative analysis from so called sniffer planes?), I have to wonder if this was actually a nuclear explosion at all.

god, The whole "far left" in this country are described in 2 words: Anti American.

Yes...NK has the bomb...Gee, do you want to go back in time and see how that happened? or just blame bush....cause I'm sure this had absolutely nothing to do with CLINTON giving NK nuclear tech back in 94'.

Grow a brain and stop being a cnn puppet.
