Ok I�m putting in a cdrw in someone pc it�s an old pc 200 MMX, 64 MB ram and 2 HD�s and CD rom.


My problem is when I put in the cdrw and start the pc its gifs an error �Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer�.

I have changed the jumpers and the IDE cables but still don�t want to work
It work when you gust put in the cdrom or cdrw then is boot normal but when I put
In the cdrom and cdrw it gifs the error..

Someone help please�

Ok Found HELP FOR MYSELF

SYMPTOMS
When you restart Windows 95 after installing a program or making a configuration change to your computer, you may receive one of the following error messages:

-Windows initializing device IOS: Windows protection error. IOS failed to Initialize, Please restart


-While initializing IOS: Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.


-Windows initializing device IOS: Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer.
After the error message is displayed, you may not be able to start Windows 95 normally. However, you should be able to start Windows 95 in Safe mode.

RESOLUTION

It may also be possible to start Windows 95 normally after using the following procedure:

1.Boot Windows 95 in Safe mode or to a command prompt.

2.Perform one of the following two steps:

-Edit the Config.sys and Autoexec.bat files and disable any references to Smartdrv.exe. To disable a line, type rem at the beginning of the line.

-Rename Smartdrv.exe to another name.
Restart your computer normally.

3.Restart your computer normally.

Ok the problem is solved for sum reason the cd-rom dos not like to be master and the cd-rw slave so I change the cdrw to master and the cd-rom to slave and then it works�

For those that maybe someday have the same problem.
