Pentagon Papers

Anyone seen this? I’ve just watched it and I have to say it was a brilliant film. The sort of film an ATSer would like.

It’s about Daniel Ellsberg, and his mission to expose the truth to the American people about the Vietnam War. To do this he needs to reveal a Top Secret report on what was actually happening in Vietnam.

This document was not showed to congress. Relevant and vital truths about the Vietnam War were withheld from the congress and American people through four presidents. All because to lose at war over there meant to lose the battles at home.

So Ellsberg goes to the New York Times, they decide to print. The newspaper is then ordered by the govt. to stop running the story.

A trial was held and a vote of 6-3 came back from the judges that the story should be allowed to print. Ellsberg was cleared of treason in a separate case and all has been happy ever after.

Or has it, I watched this movie and it just struck me that it feels like exactly the same thing is happening in our present. Govts. with there own agendas feeding the public lies for there own gain.

The truth is now even more hard to expose the govt. learned from there mistake with Ellsberg, hell the govts. probably run the press now.

The chances of top secret documents getting out the same way Ellsberg did is also probably near on impossible the whole situation seems hopeless.

We need a modern day Daniel Ellsberg, some one to expose the truth, but it’s probably not possible any more. The only other hope is worldwide first contact, which would be sure to stir a change - presuming there friendly of course.

And another funny thing is imagine some one did expose the lies and deception, it bring about a change and a brief world peace (cause peace is only ever brief!!) wouldn't that be the anti christ?? I know bit of a leap of faith but it just popped into my head as I was about to finish.
