Force admits rejecting white men

Gloucestershire police force has admitted illegally rejecting 108 job applicants because they were white men. The Police Federation said the force has been trying to recruit more female officers and more people from ethnic minorities to meet a government target.

Yet another case of positive discrimination or should i say racism, when will the people in power realise that this is never going to work and a persons skin colour is irelivant, they should be concentrating on employing the best person for the job not employing them because of their colour

I can see your point here solidshot,but i can also see why they would want a certain amount of women and more people from ethnic minorities,can`t you?

In an ideal world there is obviously a good reason to have equal numbers of each colour,sex and race but by descriminating in this way they are also decriminating against people whom may have better qualifications/experiences for the job? and in doing so are making the police force weaker in the process.

No it has nothing to do with an ideal world,it has everything to do with keeping the peace,women police officers in a lot of situations are better than male police officers when dealing with women and in some domestic disputes etc.

Same goes for Police officers from ethnic minorities,an officer from ones own country of origin has a better chance of not offending someone in any circumstance that may arise.

No again the police force is stronger because it will work more effectively with the right people,where its not necessarily due to qualifications.
