I have recently watched the documentary "Norman Dodd - The Hidden Agenda", and I am looking for anyone who has seen it or knows more about it. The
video talks of conspiracies to control the direction of the United States towards a more collectivistic society, through the control of grants,
policies, and the alteration of the teaching of american history.
The video is an interview with Norman Dodd before he died. Dodd was the head of the Reece Committee in 1953, which was set out to investigate the
activities of non-profit foundations to see if their actions could be conceived as being un-American. His team conducted interviews and were granted
access to the minutes of certain non-profit organizations. His findings pointed to certain questionable activities which could produce changes in
America through unconstitutional means. But shortly after presenting his findings, the hearings were terminated due to internal dispute and charges
of anti-semitism thrown his way from the Republican National Committee.
I don't know whether these findings are as important as Dodd led to believe, if they were even implemented, or caused a slow change in the way of
life of America, but he was pretty certain of their potential impact, and all too happy to speak his mind. Some of these findings were:
-The Ford foundation operated under directives from the White house to use its grant making power to alter life in the United States so it could
comfortably be merged with the Soviet Union.
-In 1908, the Carnegie Endowment conducted studies to find the best way to alter the life of American people, finding the best solutions to be war
and the control of the state dept. There wasn't any told progress of the latter, but shortly after, America joined World War I, and a telegram was
found from the foundation urging Pres. Wilson not to let the war end too quickly.
-To prevent the reversion of life in the United States to what it was before the war, the Carnegie Endowment decides it must control the education
system of America, specifically in the alteration of teaching of American history. They approach the Rockefeller Foundation to handle domestic
education, while they will handle the international portion of education. With the help of the Gugenheim Foundation, they form a new nucleus of
teachers in the American Historical Association to teach history in a way that points to their collectivistic goals.
Dodds assumptions were that these foundations used their wealth for the creation of public purposes contrary to their original intent, and to change
the course of America to a collectivistic/communistic future, to which they would be the beneficiary.
Any comments on this? Was there a change in the American historical teachings in the early to latter part of the century to lead to a more
collectivistic society? or a more communisitc society? Is this plausible? The findings are pretty vague, and could very well never have been
implemented, but interesting none the less.
The Reece Committee's hearing transcripts can be found on the web (they are pretty long), and the video is on youtube. Here is a link to the
transcript of the video if anyone can make more sense of it...
