I type this as the situation continues at Montreal's Dawson College. Today, at 1:00, 3 people - at least one with a mohawk and dressed in the stereotypical black trenchcoat - have openned fire on students inside and outside the college.

Why did this happen? What is the motive? Last time, in 1989, it was a single man who hated women, and so shot 16 women who were studying to become engineers. But what about here?

If anyone finds out, or needs to say anything on this horrific tragedy, please post it here.

Now none of this can be confirmed obviously, but odds are it is a good start.

The assailants of school shootings almost always fit the stereotypical profile. Brilliant from birth, but not socially accepted. Good marks leave the parents at ease for much of their childhood, and most times do not pick up on the bullying their child may be suffering while at school. As these troubled teens get picked on, they seclude themselves in their on realities of hatred.

At some point something has to give, and the sad truth is it often results in a violent act towards their peers. Columbine can not be forgotten, the lives that we lost have to mean something and we have to learn from our mistakes.

How can you prevent these school shootings? Start with the schoolyard bullies in grade school. Organize something for the students who are not socially accepted, do not allow themselves to only surround themselves with books. Social interaction is just as important as passing the next test.

Now in the end of all this, the individual is solely to blame. They pulled the trigger, they are guilty. However, along the way the teachers, parents & school mates can all take some responsibility and say they could of done alittle something to prevent it.

It will be interesting to see how this one plays out. To see if Gill, the self proclaimed Angel of Death, will fit the profile.

My condolences go out to all the victims and their families. May they Rest in Peace.

I was at school around the times of the shootings. When I came home I turned on the TV and switched to a major media network, I think it was CNN. I saw "School Shooting" and I didn't think too likely until Wolf Blitzer said Montreal. It hit me in the face like a brick. The next morning in a cafe I read the article in The Toronto Star about the profile of the killer and the victim. The killer was an anti-social person involved in the goth subculture. He was a member of a website and posted messages with disturbing content and pictures of himself holding weaponry. He played violent video games and liked metal music. He hated jocks and produced a massive list of thing he hated but emphisised the jocks. His shootings was random and seemed to induce fear rather than kill people. The story as usual changed repeativly 5 shooters, 4, 3, then 2 and 1. So what could have caused this?

To me this kid was another brainwashed youth. You can kick and scream how video games, music, and video were not the cause but it's more difficult to prove that they didn't have any involvment.

Human beings are NOT BORN WITH AGGRESSION. We are not natrually aggressive. Humans must be trained to be violent. This is done through outside influences. This is why people are dehumanized in boot camp. The common man must be trained to kill. What violent material was this man faced with that supplimented this "training"? You be the judge. But to me I believe it was violent video games, movies, and music. Society is also to blame, the people on that website new the impending time bomb explosion but didn't care. People alienated the man in the first palce which drove him into the subculture.

I know someone who was in the area at the time. They said that the police told them there were 3 gunmen, and that at one point they were directing people away from one gunman, only to make them change direction because there was another one up ahead.

Once it became news, this friend of mine was most miffed that the news said there was only one. She said it just goes to show you how they can tell you want they want in the news.

There were a few plain clothed officers in the area at the time. People said that "bullets were flying everywhere" and people have reported seeing more than one person shooting. Just like in Columbine. People like to shut their ears and say "lalalalalala" but the truth is, just because people throughout history lied to the public, dosen't mean it can happen again.
