Here's an interesting move by our politicos....

Do you work for a Patriot company? You don't know? What exactly is a Patriot company?

Well, if Rep. Jan Schakowsky gets her way, companies that meet certain criteria will be considered "patriot" companies and thus subject to a 5% tax break on taxable income for a calendar year.

The criteria:

-- 90% of goods made in the U.S.
-- Does not pay top brass 10,000X the amount of the salary of the lowest level full-time employee
-- 50% of R&D in the U.S.
-- contributes at least 5% of wages to a pension fund
-- pays 70% of employee health plan
-- Is neutral in policy on union organizing

I don't know. Other than the laughable name of the bill, I'm on the fence on this one.

Here's the bill. it's a short read:

Sounds good to me. The name is a bit creepy.....but other than that, Im all for rewarding companies who keep production, research and jobs in the US, and who are generous towards their employees and take care of them with pensions and healthcare.

And neutral attitudes towards unions are also good.

I think they should get a bigger tax break than 5%, though. And I also believe that companies who do outsource should be heavily penalized with bigger taxes and fewer loopholes.

Damn. That fits the company that I work for to a "T".

I wonder how many there are now that fit those requirements?
