San Francisco-bound flight diverted

Federal Authorities diverted a San Francisco bound flight to Dallas after an unclaimed BlackBerry PDA phone was found.

WASHINGTON - Federal authorities diverted a San Francisco-bound United Airlines jet to Dallas as a precautionary security measure on Monday after finding an unclaimed BlackBerry on board.

Officials had also found and removed an unidentified backpack from the jet before it left Atlanta, said Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Yolanda Clark. She described the jet, United flight 351, as secure and said it was diverted to Dallas "out of an abundance of caution."

The flight was diverted on the fifth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. Authorities decided not to send military fighter aircraft to escort the jet, as is routine during an emergency, said Lt. Col. John Cornelio, a spokesman for U.S. Northern Command.

Ok, this is becoming just absurd, A Blackberry? Are you kidding me? An unclaimed phone, that was found during midflight? Ok, it might have been left on the plane from the previous flight and no one really noticed. Officials also removed an unclaimed backpack before the flight left Atlanta. Wow, I've NEVER heard of unclaimed or "lost luggage" or "Lost and Found" before. People misplace, lose and leave items EVERYWHERE, on a daily basis. I think this is going a little too far to start reporting this. Oh and on the 5th anniversary of 9/11 how quaint..

Is the Propaganda that is dictating this country so out of control that a cellular phone can divert a flight now? The answer it would seem is Yes!

Good fine, Ox. There HAS to be more to this story than they're telling us. I was a flight attendant for 6 years, people left stuff all the time and we turned it into the boarding agent, who either contacted the person or put it in Lost and Found.
I agree this is ridiculous, and I do think they're not telling us the whole story.

No I think they ARE telling us the full story.. and that's the problem. I believe that this is how far this has gone. They are SO desperate to scare and control us, dictate our choices to us that they will trump up and crap they can and force feed it to us through the news.. And people go and eat it up as long as they think they are being protected... Illusion can be a wonderful thing, Not when it dictates the lives of many and the WANT of a few greedy politicians...

I suggest you read up on Anne Marie Murphy and maybe start to get an idea of why electronics can be a threat. Oh wait, there are no bombs, it's just fear mongering to control us. Right, sorry. Dunno what I was thinking. There are no people that want to kills us, just the gov't trying to control everything we do.

This IS the whole story. Come now, you dont think they wouldnt use TODAY of all days to divert at least one flight??
It just adds to Sept 11, that's all.

Right.. See.. you've got it.. What's so hard to understand about that? Do you really think that a Government who would invade countries just for financial gain wouldnt hurt their own people... Do you think a Government who would train someone, put them in power in a foreign country after it overthrows the previous government just for financial and political gain wouldnt do this to their own people? Think about it for a minute

As with all these stories.. there has not been a followup.. as soon as something comes up.. I'll post it...

Of course it's the government. Like I said, we all know that there's NOBODY in this world that would want to hurt us besides them. We're all good friends, and they love us! [/sarcasm]

I'm not saying that NO ONE would want to hurt us.. I'm saying that the Government, and the bush administration has more to gain by it.. that's all.. and there has been ZERO follow up in the news about these stories, which leads me to believe they're all nonsense... Major stories get follow up.. None of these ever have

Probably because they were innocent mistakes by someone, who forgot their phone or whatever, or someone who decided to play a prank and leave a note. However, whatever the cause the airlines HAVE to take it seriously.

Could be... Could be crap.. could be a mistake.. could be racial profiling... There's alot of could be's in there..

But it seems that, as no one was taking any notice of this.. they just .. went away one day.. this was the last time I've heard of something like this being reported.. and for a while there they were all over the news.. and this was a week ago. And on 9/11, I sort of saw it as a little "reminder".. I could be wrong.. again.. another could be...
