Scattered or isolated showers and storms will dot a good chunk of the South tomorrow. The wettest areas are expected to be southwest Florida, the Gulf Coast, parts of West Texas, eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. On the other hand, the Carolinas, Georgia, much of Alabama, western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle should remain rain-free. High temperatures will range from the 70s in parts of West Texas, western Oklahoma, the southern Appalachians and northeast North Carolina to the 80s and 90s elsewhere. Rough surf and rip currents, thanks to offshore Hurricane Janet (see Hurricane Central), will make for dicey surfing and swimming all along the Southeast coast.
