Hey guys...

I'm a big fan of World War 2, especially the naval aspect. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good games out there that revolve around WWII naval battles... ie: subs, destroyers, carriers, etc.

I have PS2 but I doubt there's anything out there for it, or else I would have heard of it. I've never gotten into computer games, which I think is the direction I'll have to go if I ever want to find the type of game I'm looking for. I'm hoping my computer is well equipped enough for a PC game... and let me set out by telling you right now that I'm pretty computer illiterate.

The comp I have is an HP Notebook. It's a Pavillion DV1000 Special Edition with Intel Celeron M processor and Windows XP. Beyond that, I am clueless!

So thanks in advance to anyone that can recommend a good WWII naval game, if one exists!

Thanks man! This looks like the perfect game for me! When is SH4 coming out, and do you think I should wait for it or just get SH3? It looks like it's only $20 for 3, so I might as well get it anyway and just get 4 when it comes out too.

I posted my basic computer numbers in the original post. Do you think my computer will be okay to run this game sufficiently? Will I need any additional hardware, like a game card or something? This stuff is all Greek to me, so I apologize for my computer illiteracy! All I know how to do is type fast, photoshop pics to embarrass people, and search for things on Yahoo and Google! lol

Thanks a bunch for your help, and thanks in advance to anyone else that can join the thread and throw me some tips/suggestions!

Give this a try - "Aces of the Deep" - as the name implies, it's a WWII era submarine game... I used to play it a lot way back when it was first released. You'll have no problems running it on your computer, and it's free!

I've never played the windows version that I linked to, but I can't imagine that it is much different than the DOS version I played. That site has both of them. Hope you enjoy!

I have Silent Hunter 3. If you've got PC capable of playing it and have any interest in such a game whatsoever, RUN to the nearest store and buy it. It may very well be the best simulation game I've ever played, and it would make the top 25 of the 1,000 or so games I've played in 20+ years of gaming. It is an outstanding game.

One word of advice, though...Check those system specs. The game is amazing, but there's a price for it. It will push your system to its limits.

Battle-Stations: Midway is a great great great game. I'm not sure if it's 360 exclusive, but it's totally something to check out.
