The price of security (or all this new 'security') is a culture of surveillance: what you say (internet), what you buy (credit cards), where you go
(travel), what you read (libraries), who you meet (real world and online), what your 'tastes' are etc etc...
It's like we're all being profiled but for what? for security?
Is it the heralding in of a 1984 style Big Brother? I guess it depends on your view of the future.
If you're a pessimist then the future will be airtight security for those priveleged enough to be among those worth protecting from 'them' 'out
there' the 'evildoers' and the great decider will see all, provide for all and check you off his big list if your profile becomes non-aligned. A
born again Utopia.
However, I'm an optimist and have no faith in man at all. After the global warming, the raising and lowering of the ionosphere with haarp, the new
space (cough) 'defense' systems, miniature sun and black hole creations, gen and clone projects out of control and rampant, nano particle flu,
'accidental' release of bio plagues, selective virus's, EMP saturation, playing God with the world and let's not forget Big Muther nature herself.
After all that is done with us. Then who is going to sit behind the screen and monitor the cameras? The black box of all human knowledge and all our
uploaded profiles will sit blinking away with nobody around to ponder it's meaning.
