What's this? Truth or Dare?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Do I detect a casual attitude with a sprinkling of scepticism in your post or are you serious and commited in pursuing this curiosity you have with communing with the dead?
I suggest that you visit a spiritualist group or church to gain some insight into this subject before you dive into something you may regret.
Whatever you decide proceed with caution. Playing with forces you do not fully understand could backfire with many unexpected consequences.
Heed the warnings from fellow ATS members.
Forget what these people told you.
Buy one, and try it out.
I have had several "experiences" with them, and nothing has ever come up to show me it was a BAD IDEA.
These people shake because of they're own shadows, go ahead and get one.
Save your money. Ouija boards are malarkey. There is no "other side" to talk to, and even if there was, don't you think they'd all have better things to do that wait around for a couple of people to get an OB just to talk to them and maybe jerk them around?
OBs work with subconscious muscular signals, sent by your, or your fellow participants' brains.
My advice to you is: always look to an earthly explanation first.
If I were you I would buy a PS3 or something. Ouija boards are not toys, they can be quite dangerous if used incorrectly. It is sort of like a spritual lucky dip, you never know what is going to come out of the box but only that you have to pay for it.
I have no experience or knowledge of oujia boards really. I've heard about them ever since I was a kid. When I was about 11 or 12 I wanted to get one, thinking they were cool things you could use to contact people from the past - or find out answers to your future. Well, I am glad I never did get one and as an adult I realize they're not "cool things" like I thought they were when I was a kid. As a kid I had no idea about all of the evil forces that are said to be behind the oujia board. There are a million other better ways to spend $20, and even if you *don't believe in anything* explain to me how oujia boards work, how they write sentences, answer questions... do you think it's all by chance and that such an evil force does not exist? Obviously there's something behind it, why can it clearly spell out words related to specific questions, instead of random letter mumbo-jumbo? I don't want to know the answer to those questions, but please think about it and don't buy one.
By the way, has anyone ever heard a story about some kid(s) who were playing with an oujia board in an attic, and apparently one of them vanished and turned into ashes? I remember hearing it from a few people in the 90's, it's probably just another urban legend but I was wondering if anyone else here has ever heard it?
There is no "evil force" behind these things. I thought so when I was in high school and we had a great deal of fun freaking ourselves out, but all the "threats" and "promises" made never came true -- even though our OB "claimed" to have a demon running it.
I think this quote sums it up nicely:
If there really is an afterlife, I'll bet the best way to contact it is through a plastic, mass-produced board game from Milton Bradley! --Mad Magazine
There are better things to do with one's time than dabble in errant superstition like this, like homework or joining the Peace Corps.
Please Do not play with the board. I did not play it, but my mother did, I have had some serious crap Happen becuase of that thing, So so many stories. When I was little I would go to bed at night and my bed was set across from my closet that Had doors on it, well there were these little Imp like shadow things that would "play" in my closet, And they would turn around and smile at me over their shoulders. the most demonic smiles I have ever seen. I would Just sit and bed, they rendered me speechless, beause If I could have I would have called for my parents. The wierd thing about it was that they would color in my coloring books, perfectly too.. I was 8 years old, and I will never forget the expierences brought on by the ouija board. becuase of those expierences I have a very strong faith now. I have many more stories that I don't mind sharing with any of you if you are at all interested. I feel that it is important to share these with people, they need to know what doors can be opened even if you arent directly connected with the demons, we are by association weather we like it or not.
I still don't see why people think there is something more to Ouiji boards than there really is. The OB marketing scheme was INGENIUS. It plays on people's fears and subconscience. There is nothing special about OB!
I have messed several times with the OB's and nothing, I mean absolutely nothing EVER happened. If anything happened to anyone after one, two times it was pure coincidence and most likely not directly related.
The only thing a OB is good for is for a bunch of people to get together and jerk each other round with one another's fantasies and that's about the extent of the board.
It is a toy, it is not to be taken seriously and if you take it seriously maybe there's something missing in your life?
Shattered OUT...
