Actually that specifically i've not heard Picard say much or if at all. If he would have said it then one of the Crew would call him 'Borg' as that is what the Borg Queen constantly says.
Personally I would suggest The Borg is the epitome of the NWO while The Federation and Starfleet are what we as a planet could aspire to be if we think for ourselves while trying to better mankind.

Interesting thread. It's true that Star Trek glorifies military service for the homeworld as a noble endeavour. Is your point that Gene Roddenbury used Star Trek to further a masonic NWO bandwagon?

He made sure that many contemporary racial & sexual stereotypes were overcome & I have to applaud that. Perhaps, like most sci-fi writers, he was just concerned about the overall plight of humanity and wanted to give folks an alternative vision to strive towards? Either way, he must've gotten something right

Maybe some other sci-fi references could be thrown into the mix?
Starship Troopers also seemed to mirror Plato's Republic, where (Military) 'Service guarantees Citizenship!'
Star Wars, of course, is set to an unfolding drama of democracy collapsing into fascism.
I think if you want a cold reflection of the NWO, then Orwell's 1984 still sets the benchmark.
I also once saw Reel #1 of a 2 Reel film production of Brave New World starring a young James Earl Jones.

To Keep on the 'Borg' topic notice its greatest threat wasn't humans but humanity the spirit we hold close the free will being the individual.
This conflict of Borg/Federation is what you should be focusing on.
So in a way Star Trek did have ties to the NWO BUT they weren't in The Federation, the beacon of all thats good and positive, they were The Borg, all that scares humans but what is weak against the things we hold strong.
Just like every Race in Star Trek takes on attributes of Human Civilizations, The Borg are a picture of a future human race if we don't stop them.

What.s so bad about a NWO anyway if it acheives just that?.. world order..ie organisation..

I think people get scared when people mention orders.. ie must be obeyed without question..

Now if we were talking galactic empire a la Star wars.. with Darth sidious..?

If the NWO offered us The Federation Future i'd be on board that ship fast, but it isn't offering that.


Don't wanna get in trouble for too short a post so, if the Borg are the NWO, then is there a representation of the NWO in ST:TOS and DS9 as The Borg are TNG and VOY?

I don't understand why something is automatically labeled as "NWO" propaganda on the basis that it involves the idea a unified human race. It seems that "unifying the human race" can only mean slavery to the elite in the ATS forums. Seriously...what the hell is wrong with unification? Does anyone here really expect global peace while there are so many conflicting viewpoints and powers in the world willing to fight for them? Human nature alone seems to support one of two things: survival of the fittest or one world power.

Conventional means of governing aren't exactly effective. Communism didn't work because people still have aspirations. Anarchy doesn't work because people are too stupid to govern themselves. Democracy doesn't work because of a population too large to support a true democratic society(before I get any comments, America is a technically a Republic). Theocracy doesn't work because of the sheer amount of varying beliefs and lack of toleration. What other choice can one offer?

I think that associating Roddenberry's politically cutting edge scifi fantasy with the New World Order is a little much.
