Multiple Barrel Machine Guns

Im trying to find out Machine Guns that have more than one barrel such as the:

Volley Gun
Gatling
Nordenfelt
Gardner
Metalstorm

Any more not listed here

They must be from late 19th century-Present Day.

Are you trying to buy them? Why not search the internet? Google it.

Provided its legal to own them.

Your precious Vulcan is actually an developement from the much earlier Gatling gun, that was an manually operated machinegun in the late 19th century... and Vulcan is specifially the 20mm weapon, 30mm is called by another name (if i'm correct)

Please do some research before flaming into other peoples threads...

Its basically nothing different, an external motor (be it a handcrank or an electric/hydraulic/pneumatic drive) rotates the barrels and operates the action. As such, it doesnt even belong here since the thread starter asked for MACHINEGUNS, which per [usual] definitionem are operating with the forces they create themselves while discharging the ammunition.

The Russian GShk-multibarrel weapons are gas operated and therefor can be considered machineguns, the american externally driven ones can´t.

What Northwolf said is correct. Vulcan, or M61A1 is one specific, 20 mm, 6-barrel cannon. There is also air defence system, M163, and ship-borne point-defence system - Phalanx, wich are based on M61A1 "Vulcan" cannon.

30 mm version is GAU-8 Avenger, wich has 7 barrels. It is used on US A-10 Thunderbolt II close support aircraft.

There are also lighter Gatling-system chainguns/machineguns, such as US GAU-2 Minigun and Russian GShG-7.62, etc.


"Vulcan" is great cannon, but it's not the one and only.

Could yoy confirm that there is/was a gas operated Gatling type gun in US inventory? Maybe chambered in 7.62? Podded weapon for light AC...

there is also a twin barrel SMG , though its name escapes me .

i do not mean the " Pistola Mitragliatrice Villar Perosa 1915 " which is more of a GPMG chambered for pistol ammo

the one i am thinking of is an under and over staggered affair , with a second magazine running through the fore stock .

and of course , the german WWII era MG 81Z , which was really a par of MG 81 with one trigger [ but it was " inserperablde " IIRC you could not dismoutnt a MG 81Z into 2 MG 81 weapons

Gsh-23-2 is the same weapon chambered for 23mm round and it's mounted to numerous soviet era fighters (or to Mig-21 at least )

Still prefer it to be Belt Fed though

NEW IDEAS: This is probably the easiest way of making a 3/4 Barelled Machine Gun, Works the very exact same as any GPMG just that it takes 3/4 rounds at each time.











When firing, The rounds in the middle Chamber's are the first to shoot, Then the Outer Chambered rounds fire.

It is using either Roller Locking/Kiraly Delayed Blowback for its Operation. It uses 250 Round Belts of .458 SOCOM Rounds, The Belt feed is also the same as any conventional GPMG but modded to take 3/4 Rounds at each time.
