I was disturbed after I read this article...

DURING THE RECENT month-long war between Hezbollah and Israel, U.N. "peacekeeping" forces made a startling contribution: They openly published daily real-time intelligence, of obvious usefulness to Hezbollah, on the location, equipment, and force structure of Israeli troops in Lebanon.

UNIFIL--the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, a nearly 2,000-man blue-helmet contingent that has been present on the Lebanon-Israel border since 1978--is officially neutral. Yet, throughout the recent war, it posted on its website for all to see precise information about the movements of Israeli Defense Forces soldiers and the nature of their weaponry and materiel, even specifying the placement of IDF safety structures within hours of their construction. New information was sometimes only 30 minutes old when it was posted, and never more than 24 hours old.

No wonder Israel bombed the UN!

Thet were also monitoring and reporting Hezbollah's movements. I don't see too much of a problem. They seem neutral. They are observing what goes on, on both sides. You don't think that the IDF was on the wrong side of the border (invading) with tanks, missiles etc worth reporting? If Hezbollah was going over the Israel/Lebanon border with tanks, troops and missiles what would you expect the UN to say to that? Nothing? I don't think so.

Disgusting that you use this as defense of the murder of innocent U.N. troops. You can question the procedures of the U.N. to announce such troop advancements, but dont use it to defend murder.

LOL!

It was part of their mission to do so, as mandated by the UN.
They are observers. They observe and report military movements along the border.
That was their job.

As has been pointed out, they were reporting Hezbollah movements and deployments as well. They didn't have as many specifics about Hezbollah movements because Hezbiollah is a guerilla army, which necessarily operates covertly and away from prying eyes - like the UN's. Israel, on the other hand, felt no need to conceal theselves from UNIFIL and didn't bother. It's kind of hard to hide a formation of Merkavas anyway.

This thread is hilarious.
