There have been many questions about what happened on September 11th, some are ridiculous some are intriguing. The other day i was watching Dinner with Portillo on BBC4, it was filmed just before we went into Iraq included on the panel was the former Pakistani Prime minister who was of course overthrown by Musharaf. During the dinner she claimed before she was overthrown she and her government were working furiously to stop the Taliban from harbouring terrorists namely Al-qaeda. But when she was overthrown the general went about negotiating with the Taliban and handing them much needed aid. I have no evidence for this and couldn't find anything on the internet, but is it possible that the U.S somehow supported the overthrow in Pakistan in exchange for helping or just leaving the terrorists alone? Does anyone have any evidience on this?

Yes, what you're saying was also reported by major media. Pakistan's ISI was working with the Taliban, asking them to harbor al Qaeda after 9/11. The US funds the ISI, and there were formal meetings between Pakistani leaders and US officials all around 9/11.

Check out this link for a lot of sources and information (Tiny URL, the original broke the BB):

Br bray, this all sounds a bit suspect then, your link provided doesn't work. What we need is documented evience of this that can be presented and not shot down.

It works for me. An excerpt:

Gen. Pervez Musharraf becomes leader of Pakistan in a coup. One major reason for the coup is the ISI felt the previous ruler had to go “out of fear that he might buckle to American pressure and reverse Pakistan’s policy [of supporting] the Taliban.” [New York Times, 12/8/2001] Shortly thereafter Musharraf replaces the leader of the ISI, Brig Imtiaz, because of his close ties to the previous leader. Imtiaz is arrested and convicted of “having assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.” It comes out that he was keeping tens of millions of dollars earned from heroin smuggling in a Deutsche Bank account. This is interesting because insider trading just prior to 9/11 will later connect to a branch of Deutsche Bank recently run by “Buzzy” Krongard, now executive director of the CIA. [Financial Times, 8/10/2001] The new director of the ISI is Lt. Gen. Mahmood Ahmed, a close ally of Musharraf who is instrumental in the success of the coup. [Guardian, 10/9/2001]

You can see how it documents what it says. Each source given is also a link, and the page is quite long and covers a lot of information.

Cheers for that Bray, i feel it is more important to look at the background to this event thatn what actually happened on the day becasue no one will dispute what they think they saw on their Tv's that day unless they were actually there. If we look at the deeper meaning for what happened it will make people realise why it was done.
