US Military Aircraft: The Actual Cost

Determining the actual cost of U.S. military aircraft can be as difficult as trying to nail jello to a tree, especially as the Pentagon’s tendency to change procurement numbers and budget envelopes can easily obscure the actual figures.

The prices below were extrapolated from the Pentagon’s latest Selected Acquisition Reports (SARs), submitted to Congress on August 10, 2006. This can be a good guide until the next time the DOD changes their mind. (Like the potential of delaying the JSF for the Navy and Marines)

I wonder though... do these numbers have anything to do with fuel projections?
How much will go through all these sick rides, and how much will that effect our economy.
It must be someone's job to do the math on that.

That's something I'd love to know actually, how many barrels of crude does the DOD go through a day?

I'll look around and try and bring something back here.
