Yes Hizbollah have been resisting Israel since the early 1980s. Most of that time Israel actually had a force in Southern Lebanon as occupiers and
there was a substantial amount of land in dispute. Hizbollah have come to the forefront recently due to 3 main issues. 1 - The withdrawal of Israeli
forces under Ehud Barak's tenure as leader. 2 - The recent withdrawal of Syrian forces from Lebanon. 3 - Hizbollah (like Hamas in Palestine) gaining
elected representatives in the government.
There has been 'tit for tat' raids, kidnappings, exchanges of gunfire, mortars etc going on for years. Rather like the British Army and Northern
Ireland used to go at it.
