The Israeli Lebanon Water Wars
If the water resources in your country are rapidly decreasing, and the neighbouring country has an intact water supply... and if you think that in the future you will need the other countries water supply... then you will not attack that country saying you need their water. If you attack that country you will do so for another reason, hiding your real objective behind a wall of deception and lies. Israel has always had water problems.
Today, in 2006, Israel lives with increasing water shortages and a rapidly decreasing supply of fresh water. The river Jordan may run dry within the next two years, because of the vast amount of water being drawn from the river by the people living in the area. People cannot survive without water, towns and cities cannot survive without water, past civilisations have died out as water became scarce. You cannot grow crops without water, which means you cannot store food. Water is the life blood of a nation.

This theory actually seems somewhat plausible to me. Although, I must admit that I don't necessariy agree with the theory as a whole. If it so be the case that this is the real reason for the conflict, what will that mean for the world as a whole?

Now, the real question is what can be done about it. We have been told for decades that the world is facing water shortages. Now that it has, perhaps, come to the forefront,w e must decide what to do. Any ideas?

According to recent hydrological research, Israel has a water-deficiency of some 500 million cubic meters per year, and has long eyed the Litani river in southern lebanon as an essential water-asset in the future of the nation.

That is a problem that as been overlooked by many people.

Oil may be a big need, but without water we die in less than a weak.

Israel is one country with big water problems.

Israel simply requires more water for consumption than its resources yield. At current consumption rates, Israel runs an annual deficit of almost 131 billion gallons, and in ten years, all fresh water will be required for household needs, thus leaving Jewish National Fund, as well as government agencies, to provide the rest.

Their new pipeline will bring water/gas/oil. A Big problem is getting this new pipeline through hostile territory. One solution is to make those territories non-hostile. Seems like they are working on that doesn't it? Why make a pipeline deal in advance if you know its not going to work? Iraq is not a problem so they are out of the way, that leaves syria and lebanon being the only obstacle to a future cash-cow. The deal was struck with Turkey some time ago, well before all of this began.

Gaza shore also is the only place to have a huge Gas well that was discovered. The Palestinians tried to make a deal with Israel and they instead opted to purchase the gas from Egypt who was buying it from Palestine. Mental.

It seems to me that between the fresh water in the glaciers dissolving into the world's oceans and our continuing search for "black gold", we are slowly destroying ourselves. We are putting more emphasis on economic wealth than we are environmental stability. It's a problem.

CHINA: August 14, 2006

BEIJING - About 17 million people in southwest China don't have access to clean drinking water due to sustained drought, state media reported on Sunday.

Crops on large tracts of farmland in Sichuan province and the nearby Chongqing municipality have withered due to the month-long drought, causing economic losses of 9.23 billion yuan (US$1.15 billion), the Beijing News and the Xinhua news agency said.
Local governments have allocated funds to help residents fight the drought by tapping ground water and improving water conservation facilities, Xinhua said.

The searing heat meant 14 million people in Chongqing and three million in Sichuan lack clean drinking water, the media said.
