The Elder Scrolls 4, Oblivion is positively the best game in the entire gaming world

I've played it almost until I beat the main quest, and there's still people to talk to, kill, barter with and tons of open-endedness. This may be the greatest game in history! (until they come out with The Elder Scrolls 5)

Well, yes, the Elder Scrolls series has been quite awesome throughout its history (starting with Arena, Daggerfall, morrowind, and now Oblivion)...I've beaten the main quest, fighters, mages, dark brotherhood, and other guilds....definately awesome a must buy for any RPG or just any video game fan...

edit was for the word"arena" ...erg, bad spelling skills...

I will chime in as agreeing,

Oblivion is rather amazing I am playing slow and taking my time for 3 months now.

the only 3 things I didint like were:
1.)no online- but single player is so good that I was able to overlook this.
2.)No Dragons- not a one
3.)not enough monter variety- After level 24 there are no new monsters:shk:

Other than that it is a simply amazing game both graphically and in depth of gameplay aswell.

Tone,

It's one of the best I've played so far, among RPGs (Skies of Arcadia: Legends being the best).

What mods have you installed so far?

I created a healing arrow mod, where one arrow shot into a city will not only heal everyone with 500 Hp every 1 mill seconds, but it will also add 100 pts shield, restore magicka, and have everyone rally to your aid. It's always nice to have a whole town at your aide when going into an oblivion portal

Gothic2 beats oblivion by a long shot. Oblivion is all glam and no guts. Morrowind elder scrolls (the one before oblivion) was pretty good because it had way more things to do. Oblivion is a land of endless repetitiveness with poor AI. It was only amusing for the first week or two. The ruin looting got old fast. They made the game, kept pushing the release and created suspense, then every one bought it, it kept everyone occupied for a few weeks while the company raked in the dough.

In gothic there is less land mass but waaaaaay more things to do. It’s also a more difficult game. The graphics are not all pretty but that lends to a more to a in-depth game. Gothic 3 is coming out soon and it is going to SMOKE oblivion.

Play gothic 2, it may seem like a poor game at first to some people, but keep playing. you’ll soon discover it has more detail than oblivion. And it’s an older game too :shk:

But then again, I play videogames a lot. So I am more apt to get bored of mediocre games.

I herad that if you beat the main quest, you can't compltete the side quests. Is that true?

I don’t know because I beat all of the guild and side quests before the main. Except for the fighters guild, a glitch prevented me from finishing. Or are you talking about gothic2? If so, I don’t know. I always save the main quest for last.

Gothic and Elder Scrolls are two great series, but theyre like peaches and oranges.

They really never compare to one another, theyre just equally high caliber and great. Nobody can really say ones better then the other, because the only thing that changes your mind is personal bias (on which one your more a fan of.)

I like elder scrolls better, but I cant really say theres anything better in it then gothic. you know what I mean?

But Gothic might not be around much longer. Computer gaming is near dead. And if they dont start branching out into consoles, I think it'll miss the bus

I've borrowed my friend's XBOX360 (he has two!) to play Oblivion, it's bloody amazing! I've had it just short of a week, and I always have difficulty in turning it off, it's just too good. I've done a decent amount of the side quests and I'm now doing the main quest.

Without a doubt one of the best games I've ever played.

I'm thinking of buying a 360, but not for Oblivion. I already have it on my PC (I couldn't wait for other games to come out on the 360, so I just bought a new PC for Oblivion), but now that Dead Rising is out, I'm seriously thinking of getting a 360. The game looks like Oblivion, but in a mall.

360s getting a great lineup of games.

Dead Rising, Saints Row (like GTA but grittier and more realistic...and with ragdoll physics,) Splinter Cell, Gears of War, Lost Planet, Blue Dragon, Alan Wake, Star Trek: Legacy, F.E.A.R, Mass Effect...And thats all by the end of the year (or in the case of alan wake, by the first day of january)

I love the Splinter Cell games, but I so hope they hold back the release date to coincide with the movie. It would make both so much more sweeter. Aside from Dead Rising, Splinter Cell, and Halo 3, not much else has caught my eye on the 360. When I saw the previews for the Metal Gear Solid 5 game for the PS3, I almost debated on whether or not to get a PS3 instead. It's a tough choice.

MGS 4 is gonna be ported over to the 360. Its not worth getting a ps3 for 600 bucks just for a game that kojima already said he wanted to port to the 360 (after he fell in love with the dev kit.)

I myself am a HUGE Sonic the hedgehog fan, I have all of the games, pretty much, and soon they are coming out with THE most realistic Sonic the Hedgehog game EVAH!!! On Xbox 360 and PS3.

I also agree Oblivion is utterly amazing! So many people bash the heck out of it
Not sure why, but it didn't diminish my enjoyment of it!

I also have to agree with the lack of monster variety, though. And no dragons! Well, there's one, but you don't get to fight it.

If you beat the main-quest you can still do most if not all the side-quests (since I hadn't played an ES game since Daggerfall I wasn't an expert so I did the main-quest pretty early.)

Oh, and be sure to ride the horse and not quick-travel whilst escorting a certain VIP during the main quest... There are certain landscape views that are unforgettable.

Also, if you never played the game as a bad-guy (i.e. did the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild) you haven't played Oblivion!

Amazing! If you can show me where you read this, I'll buy a 360 tomorow!

Would anyone happen to know any worth while offline co-op games for the 360?

I'd have to scrounge for a link, but he was essentially saying the only reason he jumped on the ps3 first was it was the first dev kit he received. He said he loved the 360's dev kit, and felt that he could and most likely will port mgs4 (like he did with mgs2 substance for the xbox) and is thinking of making exclusive mgs games for each system to feature theyre strengths.

As for co-op games, thats tough. Theres really not any that I can think of, to be honest. Alot of the console community is heading over to online co-op games (like GRAW)

The Consoles are definately going into a new stage.
They are goignt o be employing more MMOG(Massive Multiplayer Online Gaming).
But this is a double edged sword. As word through the grapevine is that Everyone of those MMOG's are going to have a seperate fee... just like on the PC... plus you have to pay for XBL which is 70 a year. Plus you have to pay, of course, for your DSL/Cable ISP service. I was severly disapointed in hearing this. Fortunately for me, I love driving games and TDU(Test Drive Unlimited is going to be no extra charge(except for extra content-which is standard now on XBL anyway) for playing what is supposed to be a Type of MMOG. Of course paying for each game that is online is nothing new to PC gamers, with games like Everquest, Start-Wars Galaxies, etc. But paying for seperate playtime on consoles IS new.. and I dont like it one bit. Currently only one game charges a seperate online fee for XBOX360 and that game is Final Fantasy11.

MMOG for Oblivion would have been simply amazing.. and is really only one of two major disapointments for me in what was, otherwise a simply brilliant game.

Its actually only 50. and thats for the Gold membership. SO if you have no interest to play online, and just download trailers, videos, arcade games, etc, its free.

Or, you can trick it out like me, and make a free one month account every month, and have xbox live forever, for free
