Is that it, the end of the crisis? Am I the only person who wanted this thing to go further? Listen guys, we need something big to happen, we need to have everything come to a head so we can deal with it...we're never going to have world peace unless Iran, Israel, Syira and "others" are finally invaded and maybe even destroyed..

Right and, why is that? Who should invade who for what reasons? Death to all right? Because when everyone is dead they won't fight anymore!

No this is not it. If you see the breaking headlines you can see that Hezbo just launched the most rockets so far in the whole conflict today. They also sent 2 drones today with explosives (that was shot down) and now it sounds like Nasrallah is retracting his statement abiding by a cease-fire. I dont think its over by a long shot.

No that's NOT it.

Israel will not leave Lebanon until Lebanese forces take control.

Lebanese Forces will not take control until Hizbollah disarm.

Hizbollah will not disarm until Israel leave.

There you have it, a perfect vicious circle.

twisted_fate don't bank on any world peace after this conflict escalates! The only peace the world will get will be the peace of the dead. An escalation of this conflict has every chance of going nuclear. There will be no sidelines to sit on.

What? You are disappointed that a cease-fire has been negotiated? You are saddened that the Israelis and Hezbollah will, if all goes "well, stop lobbing rockets and artillery at each other? Dismayed that innocent men, women and children don't have the opportunity to DIE or be MAIMED?

I can understand your frustration that the Middle East has been at the center of so much turmoil for so long. We are all frustrated. But I believe that you don't quite grasp that invading and "destroying "Iran, Israel, Syria and others" is not a logical, reasonable or, for that matter, a moral means to acheive peace. Peace through violence is not peace at all, it is the path to perpetual violence.

No, of course that's not what I ment, I just think....maybe they need a big war, it's been brewing for years now and at least if they it now then they can get it over and done with ASAP...

If you could choose between a big war now and after that war we would have peace for all time, or small skirmishs with people dying for all time, forever, be it what?

Peace in the Middle East does not require the death of everyone in it, that's a ridiculous assumption. Even if you killed off every last person in the M.E. and then salted the land right before nuking it with enough heat to turn the whole region to glass, it would not solve the core issue.

What it will take for peace to happen is for people to stop killing each other just because someone's ancestors pissed off someone else's ancestors thousands of years ago.

That's what it's all about, folks. Every other country on Earth has it's petty squabbles with its neighbors about stupid things, but if you look at the two least stable regions on Earth (Middle East and Africa), the problems basically go back to the same ideology. Someone's tribe angered someone else's tribe, hundreds or thousands of years ago and the two have been enemies ever since.

To change this line of thought would take a humanity level far beyond what such people are apparently capable of. And this has nothing to do with race, either, please do not mistake my words. At the time all these tribes started hating each other, we were pretty much same race anyway. What this has to do with is one's basic level of humanity. If you feel the need to slaughter the children of someone across an imaginary line from you, just because their ancestor and yours didn't get along, then you are not as human as someone who can understand that the people alive today did not commit the crimes of thousands of years ago.
