Hi guys!

Funny that my 1.7 GHh Intel CPU is just not enough for that FLASH avertisement banner. The whole explorer halts because of that powerconsuming advertisement of UFOs and aliens.

Possibly people here on ATS use at least a 3 GHz Dualcore Xeon MP or an Itanium or whatever, they can use this forum well enough.

So my question is: Could the staff please do something about this hi-res advertisement ? It's just impossible to use this site!!

PS: I don't wish to U2U to staff members about it, just want to see some opinions from those having an "old" system.

Should I just buy a new PC?

I don't mind seeing the ads because they do pay for stuff around here, but if they're actually keeping your computer from working correctly there are several Firefox plug-ins that will allow you to disable macromedia. I'm using Avant Browser (A free Internet Explorer overlay) that let's you disable pretty much anything you want. (Pictures, Flash, Sound, Videos, ActiveX, Scripts, Java Applets.) This is probably your best bet to get things working again, plus the tabbed browsing is cool.

Without Flash I wouldn't be able to wack the pink pony or hit the mailbox to claim my prize but I know where you're coming from. I had to upgrade one of my kids computers last year because it wouldn't do the flash games on cartoon network. Some of these things are cpu intensive.

Just some Flash ads halt my browser, not all. I was just wondering: Is it possible to tell those who pay ATS to make less CPU-intensive ads?

Avant will let you blacklist specific ads. If you think any ads are really out of line you could mention them here or in this thread:
